Petition for the Theatrical Cuts of the Original Star Wars Trilogy on Blu-ray — Page 6

I've honestly never even seen how that line would contradict anything that George pulled out of his ass later.  Red Leader says that he knew Luke's father, and that Luke's father was a great pilot.  Why even bother cutting that out in the first place?  Anakin, even in the prequels, was shown (on rare occasions) to be good at piloting spacecraft, and he did indeed know people.

I thought it was so Lucas didn't have to squeeze another character into the prequels.  Of course, that was before I SAW the prequels and Lucas was squeezing in characters left and right (making Yoda and Chewie best friends even)!

Nothing says he couldn't have had a guy show up and say "Hey, I'm Red Leader."  Or even (gasp) assumed that the viewer would be smart enough to figure that MAYBE ANAKIN DID THINGS OUTSIDE OF THE FIVE HOURS WE SEE HIM.  Or leave it to the EU to do his dirty work.

Haha, I'm just thinking about if the character's name actually was Red Leader.  I guess Red Leader was born to be... leader of red squadron.  Then I think about it... and realize that it's one of the less silly names Lucas has come up with.

Read a post today of someone (in LA) who has watched 'ANH' in a pirated Blu-Ray form .. goin about the obvious improvements ?

You sure he's not mistaking Adywan's AVCHD of ANH as an official release?

No that's not him, however adywans cut of ANH is nothing less then spectacular and needs to be seen.

I am totally honest in saying I don't know where these came from outside of my friend who had copies made from overseas. So I wouldn't know how to help people out in finding it.

Again, its not revisited, its a recolored 2004 version. What other changes did he find?

I wish I had a way to find out where to get these burned onto blu ray but in all honesty I have no clue. My friend did it as a favor and he's a busy guy so i was lucky to get the set I do have. All I can tell you is they are top notch and not your typical 720 downloads from the net. I did a search and I couldn't find them anywhere online, but maybe they will start popping up soon

The detail is so intense, and blows the dvds to pieces. But the droid shots remind me of how much the detail stands out on all of the intentional rust and imperfections on R2 and Threepio, it looks totally awesome

I still think this is most likely the Adywan set.

- They are from a broadcast, just not our broadcast. This edit was pieced together from several sources. Our broadcast was not 1080p it was 720. The Norwegians (I think this is where) got the full 1080p 56 bitrate

I never understood the point of taking that line out of the Biggs scene that was reinserted back in 1997.

What did it contradict, I mean it's not like someone had memories of someone dying when they were very young and it turned out the person actually died moments after their birth. Such a hypothetical scenario is what I would consider a plot hole.

I thought part of the reason to have Anakin win the podrace was to show that he was a good pilot, seems like Lucas is taking out stuff that would support the prequels yet writes new stuff that contradicts. I thought very few people knew Darth Vader was once Anakin Skywalker, and Obi Wan probably told others what he told Luke in Star Wars. So how is it inconsistent for Red Leader to tell Luke he knew his father, under the assumption that Luke's father is now dead. 

Where was I? Oh yeah, there's also a facebook group called "I will not buy Star Wars on blu-ray unless it has the original edition." I don't really care what the group is called but there needs to be one that really gets a lot of people to join. "Han Shot First" has a lot of members though.

And I would like to add some photos to the Star Wars fan page but for some reason, I can't figure out how to upload photos to fan pages on facebook, even though plenty of other people can. (And it's not like I don't know how to upload photos to facebook, I have many from my albums that I've even added to multiple groups.)
