don't know if anyone here uses sony vegas besides ady, but when i insert my video, it gives me only audio and no video. is there a setting i need to configure?
Nope, that's a floating 2D display.
I stand corrected.

It could just be a problem with the file. Is it an old clip you had sitting around or something you ripped recently? I loaded an old AVI file I had into Vegas and had the opposite problem - video but no sound.
Also, when you bring the clip from the Media Explorer down to the tracks, there's three video tracks and three audio tracks. Make sure the audio ones weren't muted. Also make sure the audio landed on the correct track. What kind of speaker setup do you have? Maybe it went to the surround track but you only have standard speakers on your computer.
My outlook on life - we’re all on the Hindenburg anyway…no point fighting over the window seat.

Interesting fact: The floating "holopane" controls aren't actually science fiction any more.
Well I'll be damned... floating 3D displays do exist! Very cool.
Actually, I always thought that these weren't "displays" but more the traditional "Big Board" similar to the glass ones used in war rooms in the SAC "Strategic Air Command" or Pentagon type situations to manually track and update troop/tank/battleship/air support movements.
Mainly an exposition device in films, I'm not sure if they're actually used in real life.

Also, vaderios. I'm sorry but if you look at the colours, shading, shape, scale and all of the set compare to your model.... well, at this rate they'll never look alike.
Yes yes.. You all know me when something is wip and when is not ;)
I have proven that all these time ;)
The image was for the sake of comp and how or when this port should be in the shot :)
Angel, there's definitely some scale/ positioning problems with the hatch you have added. Maybe this pic will help (just click on the image to see it full size)
Thanks for that ady! I really wanted something like that :D
Btw, you should check this if you havent.. Millennium falcon scales by savmagoett.
It might solve some scale problems here and there in MF

I think Star Wars should be completely devoid of any transparent, floating, 3D projection computer interfaces. I cannot stress how much I HATE those things. It seems like every science fiction movie that's come out in the last decade just falls back on that concept, with no attempt at originality. I'll take a computer like Mother from Alien over any TF3DPCI (like my new acronym?) any day of the week... at least it felt like a real computer.
I don't know if Ady can do anything to remove/tone down some of those floating GUIs in the prequels, but I'd cringe if one found its way into the OT. As far as I'm concerned, holographic technology in the Star Wars universe should be limited to visual projections only (i.e., recordings, schematics) not user interfaces like in the above picture.
I couldn't agree more, the designs of Star Wars are timeless. I hope Ady isn't even considering putting these things in.

People vs George director talks about Adywan:
Philippe: You know that's interesting because it really reminded me of, there's a guy, who's actually in the film, whose name is Adywan he's essentially a God among fan-editors. The whole fan edit movement is a whole other thing, but he spent two and a half years working on his recreation of Star Wars the way it should be, according to him. It's just a tremendous amount of work. But you look at some of the stuff he's done, for instance, we actually show a shot, a comparison, between George's version and Adywan's version. In George's version there's maybe five critters [on screen] and Adywan's only has two. And I say, If you had a problem, if you had an issue with those critters, why didn't you just remove them all? But he wanted to keep [two of] them. It's so nit-picky, it's really interesting. That's how passionate they are. They have this vision of Star Wars and they appropriate it and it becomes theirs. And in fact, all of them talk about it in terms of "this is in MY Star Wars." It's a very personal thing.
Now this is funny..
Considering this shot, i came to some conclusions.
If the sun is under CC so the light must come from inder the hypothetical horizon line..
So for the sake of making this less symetrical i add some sun behavior to the left wall as well some buildings with a better lightning behavior.
also some slight color values to make that shot match the mood as ady set as establishing shot :)
subtle but whatever good looking :P
and again this building has no logical architecture sense :P as for the many buildings in SW...

yeh, i've just seen that interview. I'm not very happy with the example they agve of the "critters". This is something they never asked me about yet use it as an example in the film of how "nit-picky" i am with my edit. If they had bothered asking then i would have given them a logical explanation ( the fact that i had extended that shot so would have had to slow the creatures down, which didn't work and the fact that they look stupid turning around to watch the landspeeder) . It will be interesting to see how they twisted my interview to make me look like some obsessed fan with too much time on his hands. Has anyone seen this movie yet? I'm really starting to wish that i had never been involved with this
yeah I thought it seemed a little harsh. "Nitpicky" was essentially the wrong word to use in the interview... "accurate" would have been more precise. Hopefully the film will get it together and not twist words... though I did read a fairly luke-warm review the other week.

There's many reviews and they have a generally appreciative response: (http://news.google.com/news/search?aq=f&pz=1&cf=all&ned=us&hl=en&q=people+vs+george)
The AICN (and related) view it as somewhat boring (or 5 years too late as they put it) because they've grown up with these issues and are familiar on an intimate level. (these tend to be the Hollywood insider type blogs) Then there are the majority of the reviews (and blog responses) where they cater towards the people who just want to release some bile. Unfortunately in some of the interviews the director gets caught in this mentality and looses his balanced stance. And in the last few days there's been 2 or three reviews which move beyond the doc. to explain how societies interaction with culture is changing.
Maybe any additional links concerning that new documentary can be added to this particular thread about it from hereon. I'm sure there'll be plenty more comments to come about it on there too, and I've added my own early thoughts - http://originaltrilogy.com/forum/topic.cfm/The-People-Vs-George-Lucas-documentary/topic/8902/

It may not be too nice to be called a nitpicker, but then, this is possibly the most nitpicky thread I've ever seen in my life. And if I brought up any examples, it would start the nerdy arguments all over again. Ha! ;)
I mostly see it as heaps of praise with a teaspoon of badly worded commentary on top. I know that teaspoon can seem huge, but hopefully not in this case.

No, i have no intention of adding any of these into my edits. I'm fed up of these type of displays popping up in almost everything, even non sci-fi related. In fact i may be taking the PT one in Palpatines office out and replacing it with something a little different ;)

I think it's odd that one guy who produces an entire documentary about his feelings about Star Wars (and brags about the thousands of hours of footage he had to go through) can be so dismissive of the work of someone else who invests a great deal of time and effort into these films.

I really think you read Alexandre the wrong way. He is not dismissive at all.
He said that Adywan is not the kind of guy who remove something just because he don't like it, it's more than that. That's the way I read Alexander interview and I think he's right. It's not dismissive talk against Adywan to me.
And I don't think nitpicking is a bad thing. It can get ridiculous, sure, but it also leads to problems being fixed that have bothered people for a long time, including the ever-important continuity. :)
