POLL: How do You Mock Lucas' Name?

Author
Time

A) Luca$
B) Lucash (Luca$h)
C) Lucass (Luca$s, Lucas$, Luca$$)
D) other

I have to know. My pick is C) Luca$, but usually I just go with the non-mocking GL.

I don't, but speaking of names, I'm curious, is yours a reference to Taxi Driver?

No. Just a (very) slightly funny Star Wars related take on elections held in places controlled by despots. If Emperor Palpatine went through the charade of holding elections, he would have gotten those 99%+ votes like Saddam Hussein used to get, and woe be to those future stormtroopers who didn't vote for him.

Ah, because "Palpatine" is probably based on "Palantine" the politician from Taxi Driver, and there are all these banners and buttons that say "Vote for Palantine". :P

See (and I know this is at least a misdemeanor-level offense), I haven't seen Taxi Driver.

Of all the snark and unpleasentness on the internet, I think the "mean version of someone's name" has to be the worst. It's like elementary school name calling.

Whenever I head "Lucash" or anything like that, all I can imagine is Adam Sandler as Billy Madison going "Chloryphyl? More like BOREaphyl!"

Yeah, you're right - but it was fun to do it back when we were all complaining about the GOUT. It's like yelling at the furniture after stubbing a toe on it - it's useless and achieves nothing, but it somehow beats not saying anything. I don't know why.

For the record, I've never been a Lucas basher. Not on a personal level, anyway.

Oh, people can talk all the shit they want about GL till he stops being a douche and releases the real version of the movies.

I just find the name calling kinda dumb.

Only Lucas' friend made the film and his own wife edited it and got nominated for a BAFTA, and then the film became known as one of the great American films of all time. :p

Just saying. The first time the word "Senator Palpatine" was ever used was December 1976, a few months after the film came out where there is a "Senator Palantine".

Pretty damning evidence.

On topic:  D.  I only fault Lucas for making crummy prequels and only caring about the crummy special editions.  For me, the financial part isn't important so I don't bother with the $.

Off topic:  I'm surprised some rap artist hasn't used the name Ca$h.   Johnnie Ca$h, perhaps.

Less off topic:  I don't remember if zombie has talked it about on his site or in the book, but did Paplatine the senator first appear in the Star Wars novelization's prologue?  And did Lucas pen that part or was it ADF?

The name Palpatine doesn't appear until the novel. It's impossible to say who physically wrote it--I would assume Foster, since he is the author after all. But the info obviously came directly from Lucas. Lucas and Foster had pretty lengthy story conferences while Lucas was still in pre-production.

I do not mock Lucas' name. I just think about that close-up shot of the alien uvula in Jabba's palace in the SE. That's enough for me.

You know of the rebellion against the Empire?
