March 17, 2010 - Star Wars: The Clone Wars is running strong on Cartoon Network, while the long-talked about Star Wars live-action series is still under development – but now it seems a second Star Wars animated series is in the works as well.
IESB reports that George Lucas is in pre-production on the new series, which they say is believed to have the working title of – wait for it -- Squishies.
Keep in mind IESB says this show will be aimed at pre-school to kindergarten aged kids, based off of the Star Wars: Galactic Heroes toy line, which is aimed at the same very young demo. This actually sounds remarkably similar to The Super Hero Squad Show, the very young-skewing animated series centering on Marvel Comics characters and based on the successful Marvel Super Hero Squad toys.

Considering that less than ideal content for very young viewers, Galactic Heroes (or Squishies) is likely seen as an alternative for the very youngest Star Wars fans – or potential Star Wars fans.Will adorable booze serving R2D2 and Lil' Slave Leia be a part of the new Star Wars animated series?
IESB says it's not clear yet what network might air the new Star Wars animated series.

I was skeptical, but now that I know this is a Tim Box Production, I'm totally on board. I just hope Gringo doesn't shoot first.
I'm a little mixed on the subject. One the one hand, it sounds incredibly stupid. On the other hand, I have enjoyed the 5 or 6 episodes of Marvel Super Hero Squad I've caught with the kiddies. It's entirely silly and actually quite amusing.
So... I guess it could be good if handled well. However- I don't think a title like "Squishies" is really a good sign that they're off to a good start. :(

The entire report, including the title, could be off, keep in mind.
But hey, it's a show for five-year-olds, can any of us really have an opinion on something that like? I could care less if it's true since it really won't matter either way.
I would imagine "Squishies" is a fake title, like "Blue Harvest". I told my wife about the article, and she looked at me and said "There is no hope for our children, is there?"

I don't hate George Lucas, I like what's become of the Star Wars franchise, but this, Squishies? That's just selling out. Doubleoffive, I think your idea of Squishies being the fake title may have given me an idea; what if this is just is all a set-up into beginning the hype of the live-action series?
If this could be a way to make the clone wars cartoon a bit more "adult" I think it's good.
I don't think there are many of us who want to see the clones without their armor.
Or Yoda without his robes.
Why should this be any surprise, do you need a reminder of where this franchise has been:
The circle is now complete. Star Wars has become a show based on a toy line based on a movie.
The biggest whoring of star wars ever was star wars transformers.
They should make a show out of that and have yoda turn out to be buddies with Optimus Prime,lol.

I hope Squishees is just a rumour. If George Lucas wants to appeal Star Wars to a younger age, he should revive the Ewoks cartoon series. That would be a good idea, taking place in the Star Wars canon, and I would watch it. Anyone else agree?
