Ok, so thinking about the draft a little...

Opening Day is Monday, April 5.  There is one "opening night" game Sunday, April 4, which is LAME, but never mind that.  Seems like sometime during a weekend would be the best time for the draft, but which weekend?  We could do it either Friday April 2 or Saturday April 3, but it might be better to give everyone a little more time prior to the season starting.  So I'm thinking either Friday night March 26 or Saturday night March 27.

It seems like the season is a long way off, but that weekend is only a few weeks away...

Thoughts?  Also, what time zone is everybody in?  I'd like to pick a time that works best for the most people.  I'm Mountain Time Zone, and I'd prefer sometime around 7pm local (9pm eastern) but I can be somewhat flexible I think.  The draft will probably take 2-3 hours as a rough guess.

If you haven't tried it yet, there is a mock draft feature on Yahoo that can give you a feel for how the draft software works and give you some practice.  Link is here:

We are doing a standard draft (not an auction draft).

Finally, any of you new folk have any questions yet?  Have you had a chance to read through the rules and settings, or check out any of the websites I recommended?

Although we can play with nine, I'd still like to get one more person (and pretty quick if possible).  I sent PM's to both bkev and skyjedi, both of who appeared in the MLB thread, but neither is interested.  No one seems to be interested over at faneditforum.  Can you guys think of anyone else here who might have interest?

I can set the time aside for a weekend evening.  Just let me know when.

I'd like to take a poll to see when the best time is for the draft for the most people.  It will be sometime on the weekend of Mar 26-28.  Here are your choices (please let me know which work and which don't for you).

Fri Mar 26 - 8pm EST

Fri Mar 26 - 9pm EST

Sat Mar 27 - 3pm EST

Sat Mar 27 - 6pm EST

Sat Mar 27 - 9pm EST

Sun Mar 28 - 3pm EST

If you can't make the draft, you'll still get a team.  We can talk more about this after setting the draft time.

Let the voting begin.  If you want to suggest another time I can add it to the poll, but try to pick some of these times if possible to keep it from getting too complicated.  Results will be posted in the OP.

Thanks guys, votes recorded in the OP.  I'm going to amend my previous post to get rid of the 1st/2nd/3rd choice thing.  Everyone else, just let me know which times work and which don't.

Any other slots work for you Ripplin?  I'm pretty sure Warb is going to vote against Sunday night based on his previous post.

I'll vote for Saturday 3PM.   Frink, you are correct.   I vote against all times Sunday.

I agree, I'm just trying to pick a time that will work for as many people as possible.  When you say 'any evening' does that include the 6pm times, or just the 9pm?

Friday at 8 is ok I suppose for me.

Anyone else want to make their preferences known?

Also, any of you rookies have any questions yet?  It's been pretty quiet in here...
