I am also glad to see Widmore's return to the island. I, like C3PX, feared that his storyline would have been considered capped.
My friend thinks that perhaps the alt2004 stuff is the "temptation" that the MiB/EIG is offering the losties- This is the life he is offering them if they join his side- This is the the life they are giving up if they join Jacob's side.
