Unless your TV is particularly bad at it, I'd leave it to do the scaling. Or buy a new TV ;)

I've search through this thread but I may have missed it.
Maybe Ady has answered this question before but how was the Anaglyphic 3D Jabba Easter egg done?
I'm working on something myself (nothing to do with Star Wars) and it might be a fun way of presenting it along with all the other wonky things I'm throwing in.

Anyone help me with getting a copy of the dual layer DVD-9 with full menus and features? I don't have a dual level burner and want the best quality I can get. PM me, will pay for price of blanks DVD and postage. Thank you.

Hey, this is the book that was written by an OTer, right? I believe Adywan mentioned it before as being a great read.

Actually the book written by the OTer is Zombie84's Secret History of Star Wars. This is the non-secret version, but is still very straightforward (as it was mostly written while they were making the movie). I read the first half before I had to take it back to the library, and it was awesome.

Thanks for the response (I would have thanked you earlier but I was away), interesting stuff but not really useful for me because anaglyphic glasses are much cheaper and easier to get hold of than any other option and I was toying with using that method if it's relatively simple rather than anything too cutting edge for me to do and for other people to experience.

sorry, missed this one.
I loaded the footage into after effects and created several copies in the composition. I then rotoscoped certain areas on each layer to represent object at certain distances. Many times an object/character would have a few depth layers if closer to the camera to give their form the 3D effect. Then i applied a filter ( sorry can't remember which one but it separated red/green). Working from the bottom layer, which is the background, i applied the filter heavily, and slightly less for each layer working up to the top layer when the filter was hardly applied. If an object walked away from the camera then i had to duplicate the mask on some of the other layers. The first layer had the mask at 100% while the others set to 0% and as the character/object moved away from the camera the first mask layer was faded out while the next layer was faded in and so on. I wore the 3D glasses while i worked on it so i could see if i was getting the desired effect and tweaked it if necessary. It took about a month just to do the Jabba scene so i will never be doing a whole film in 3D.

Hell's bells that's a heck of a lot of work (possibly too much for what I had in mind) but that information may come in very useful maybe even in coming up with an alternate method (though nothing springs to mind at the moment).
