Just thought I'd post a little story and thank you here.

Nice story, thanks.  You should check out the GOUT image stabilization thread.  They have done WONDERS with the original versions from the non-anamorphic DVD's.

That's what I wondered about, especially after Ady's ESB with the original Emperor. I didn't think stuff like this was possible.

He may have used that German digital broadcast of the 1997 SE, which I've got the Shaw ghost bit of somewhere. Don't forget that the original Emperor was low quality anyway - that was part of the hologram effect.

Ah, I forgot about that one. What would we hardcore fanboys do without DVR? ^_^

Hi, could someone please send me a rapidshare link to adywan's ANH?

I couldn't find it on Demonoid (I found the ESB), the version for ANH seems to be his original release and not the HD one.

TIA!

I just finished burning a copy of ESB! Can't wait to watch it! :D

Would someone be so kind as to PM me Rapidshare links to the available films? Thanx!

Thanks thorr! I checked out a version of GOUT Image Stabilized Ep IV, and it is nicer than the disc versions. I'm a little lost when they're talking about the scripts and stuff, but I'm trying to figure it out.

All this is kind of hard to follow and a little overwhelming since I'm kind of new to the whole FanEdit thing.

I have Adywan's IV and V. For now I think I'm kind of just looking for a version of VI of similar quality, minus Hayden (and maybe the Jedi Rock or another thing or two). Something that starts with the latest release quality, but just fixes a few of the things to make it more similar to the originals. Is there anything like that you could point me in the direction of?

I'm going to be showing these movies to a few people for the first time, and I just want to keep the quality even throughout.

I'm kind of torn! In a way, I'd like to just show the GOUTs... but the quality of the restored versions are so nice! It's just that they're changed in so many ways. I'll be showing them on a projector, so it might wash the quality out further... so starting with bad quality versions could look pretty ugly.

Sorry if it's improper to talk about this in the wrong thread, I'm not sure how strict this board is about side discussions in threads.

Thanks!

You will have to wait for Adywan to finish his AVCHD of ROTJ, but that will happen after ESB Revisited is finished, as far as I'm aware, which will be a fair while yet.  (I'm waiting eagerly too.)  This is now back on topic! :-)

I would show the OUT for a first experience of Star Wars.  If you must project Star Wars, it would of course be great to obtain a 1080p projector and show Adywan's AVCHDs of Episodes IV and V, which have a couple of the changes removed (see page 1 of the thread).

For episode VI, there is Ewokgroomer's DVD-9 AVCHD on alt.binaries.hdtv.  (It is a downconversion of Wookie Groomer's ROTJ blu-ray, but still looks pretty good.)

Thanks Chewtobacca (great name, I laughed).

The place we're using just has a 480p Projector, so HD versions won't make a difference. I was planning on showing Adywans IV Revisited, and V AVCHD. I converted the AVCHD to DVD. The quality is lesser than the original file of course, but it is still much better looking than the official release of V, and the color looks much much better!

I took a look at the Ewokgroomer/Wookie Groomer version. I was hoping Hayden wouldn't be there, but... he is. That's the main thing I'm trying to avoid.

So I guess my options are to show Adywans IV and V, and the official SE VI (ugh). Or just to show all 3 GOUT, which look really bad and are 4:3. The projection screen isn't that big anyway, so the GOUT would be fairly small. I'm not sure if that would be a poor/distracting experience.

I really like the GOUT Image Stabilized IV, but I can't find one for V or VI. I don't know if they're out there. If so, I would definitely be more inclined to show them.

But Adywans stuff is so nice! I'm so torn!

You're welcome!  Glad you like the name.  No one else has laughed..

G-Force's image stabilised GOUTs for V and VI are in the pipeline, but have not been released yet.  I don't know when they will be.  (I'm anticipating them as much as you are.)  :-)

If you can wait for G-Force to release them, wait and show the original trilogy.  If you can't, show the AVCHDs.

I laughed too.  I just didn't mention it.

For ROTJ, I'm partial to dark_jedi's GOUT sourced version, although I admit I've only skimmed through it to give it a look/listen (I'll have to find time to actually watch the whole thing some time, dammit!)

Concerning no Hayden in Return of the Jedi, I gave it my best shot and replaced Hayden Christensen with Sebastian Shaw in 1080p HD.

The source of the original footage I used for this is definitely not the best one out there so I'm betting someone with better skills and resources then mine could do better. But anyway, EdFarmer, if you wanted to use it for your projection(if you have the wookie groomer's color corrected version, it should be really easy to cut this into it in something like the movie maker, which is a part of windows, no science) I could upload the original file somewhere for you :-)

Adywan, thanks for these!  I'm showing Empire at my annual marathon this weekend.  The audience is a bunch of geeks who will SO appreciate your color corrections.

Were the higher bitrate mkv's that you hinted at ever made available?

Thanks again,

I am not aware that any others were.

Lord__Vader, I really appreciate the offer, and never really thought about doing it myself. I would have to learn more about authoring, and would have needed more time (not to mention a better computer!). Thank you though! I'll just wait for Adywan's 1080p ROTJ for now. Thanks again, though.

Anyway, I just showed the Dark_Jedi versions (thanks Fink Frink!), and all went well. It'll be great to have a cleaned up set of the original versions, and a set of Adywan's awesome edits of the modern versions when they're finished. Can't wait!

Great stuff here. Great place. Thanks so much for everyones help, and again to all the editors for their hard work.

Can someone please PM me with where I can obtain a copy of the Blu-ray version on episode 1.

It is not a blu-ray: it is an AVCHD; nonetheless, PM sent. :-)

Hey guys, i'm looking to acquire the colour corrected AVCHD of Episode I.  Could someone possibly send me a pm with such information :)

Thanks in advance

Until Ady has time to get his Episode II, III and VI AVCHD discs done, has anyone out there made their own that they're willing to share?
