Star Wars on The Simpsons

Did anyone else catch the new episode of the Simpsons this past Sunday? I only caught half of it, but there was a scene where Bart & Lisa are trying to reason with a Lucas-type filmmaker about his sci-fi movies and how he should release them in their original form as people remember them. It was friggin' hilarious! It seems Groening & company are on our side. Do you think this might put more pressure on Lucas to rethink his position on the whole thing?

P.S. - I'm pretty sure I missed most of the scene, so if someone could post a transcript I'd love to read it.

That is incredible!!!! Everyone check out pt. 2. It's everything that this site represents.

I want a Taun Taun for trips to the video store.

Now if only we can get our URL on an episode of the Simpsons. Maybe Bart's blackboard in the opening segment?

Isn't that simpson episode more about the prequels than the lack of original theatrical cuts of the classic trilogy on DVD?
Author
Time
It can be argued that it's both. Yes, primarily it deals with the PT and Lucas' lack of cohesive storytelling. But it can be said that Lucas has lost sight of his audience via the creation of the SEs and the UEs as well. But I can see your point.

The South Park episode is more fitting, but the Simpsons episode will reach a greater number of people. There is hope nonetheless.

Princess Leia: I happen to like nice men.
Han Solo: I'm a nice man.

Just the thought of that South Park episode still cracks me up and it's been nearly a year since I've seen it.

Yeah I loved this episode. Of course I love pretty much every episode... The ep 1 parody was a little behind the times, but still funny. I haven't seen that South Park one though. Ah, If only the following were true

George Lucas: What are you doing here?

Lisa and Bart: We come from the real world. We're here to tell you that your movies have lost they're way.

GL: No they haven't. My characters are getting better all the time, now that we've perfected digital eyelash rendering.

LB: Better technology doesn't mean better storytelling.

GL: Well, now I know you're crazy.

LB: Wait, before you have us killed, hear us out.

GL:I will wait 10 of your earth seconds.

LB: Your early movies are timeless classics. Please Mr. Lucas, go back to what made your first films so great.

GL: Your right. I'm going back to my roots. Plots and characters lifted from westerns and samurai films. To the video store!

This way, at least there could be hope that Ep 3 could be really good. In any case, the Simpsons have shown us the way. George Lucas can be reasoned with! (Psst, nobody tell Jimbo though.)

What jimbo doesn't know won't hurt him.

Princess Leia: I happen to like nice men.
Han Solo: I'm a nice man.

Shimmy, shockingly he hasn't said too much controversial lately. That's been left to Lord Peeler.

Wow, this episode was great... even the SW scroller mockery was hilarious
Thanks for the info and the link!

Too bad they are late ...for about 5 years... maybe they want to send a hidden message to "Randall Curtis"?
I saw the original theatrical release of the Old Trilogy on the big screen and I'm proud of it...
How did I accomplish that (considering my age) is my secret...

Surprised they didn't name him Jorg Sacul like the limited edition X-Wing pilot figure modeled after Lucas.

Not all the Simpsons episodes are great, but the brilliant ones often make up for the weaker ones.

Han Solo: I'm a nice man.

dont get me wrong guys...
if anyone here is the biggest simpsons fan in the world its me... TRUST ME!

but ive noticed them using jokes in new episodes that they've used in previous ones... and i just cant laugh at them cuz i always think back to the first time they tried that gag...
sometimes the new episodes just have no real story flow to them... they're just a whole bunch of crazy things happening...
i think we discussed all of this in another thread but i think they should end it while they still have some credibilty...

after all you can only have so many episodes before you start running out of ideas right?

did anyone here hear about a possible simpsons movie?

Yeah, they're working on the movie now. Originally they were gonna wait until the series was over, but they've decided to go ahead and start preliminary talks now. Who knows, maybe the series will never leave the airwaves (anything is possible with the Simpsons, right?)

And yes, while I do love the Simpsons, I'm not some Jimbo-sized fan. The show is most definitely not perfect. Nothing is really, not even the original OT (blasphemy), but just like the OT, for me the show still hits way more than it misses so I still look forward to it whenever its on. But yeah, if it ever got to the point where I didn't think a whole season was worth owning on DVD, I'd probably feel the same way as you do. I just hope that either that never happens or that it's further down the line.
