Yes, his head somehow became more squat as he aged. :p

Well spacing between bones condense over time (dunno about the head but skull formation also changes over time as well). Concerning nutrition on Dagobah isn't really calcium rich or anything it's explainable biologically. Also for all we know getting more squat is the process of their species evolution and perhaps they're were just as tall as us at one point (a mildly fightening thought actually... lol Like they look like Legolas and end up short and green! heh....).

Also consider that Dagobah may have heavier gravity than other planets... I know it's sounds like retconning but scientifically it's coincidentally explainable... (even though I doubt it's what GL was going for. ;) )

Spending 23 years in a swamp smokin' Dagobah green can do some mighty harsh things to a man's body, especially when he's only 2 feet tall. ;)

Dark Lord of Comparisons here, coming at you with my CGI/Puppet Yoda image:

After making this image a few months ago, I decided that I do like the design of the CGI Yoda for the most part.  It really looks like they have the same bone structure, just that in the OT he's malnourished and a bit more frail.  His cheeks are sunken in, etc.  The CGI Yoda reminds me of baby pictures, where your face is round and your bone structure isn't all that noticeable, while Puppet Yoda isn't as well fed and getting well up there in years.

Really, this whole conversation is neither here nor there, I just had to share my comparison because that's my thing.  The only thing I really feel bad about is having to have TPM Puppet Yoda on the picture.  No one needs to see that. ;-)

And in some 36 fu***** years he hasn't changed his clothes??!! Jeez :P

Something I just realized that is interesting about watching Empire Strikes Back, if you are viewing the saga in chronological order, is that your first impression of Yoda in ESB is "oh no, he really let himself go, didn't he?" LOL. I can imagine a first-time viewer actually believing that after spending 20+ years in a swamp Yoda has gotten a bit eccentric, especially since his once pristine Jedi robes are now fraying rags.

Hmm person same isn't he?

Even the revisited saga cant take this way, i hope that future releases will reconsider the design ;)

Yea i like the cgi yoda better also, but in the case of the OT, yoda needs to stay a puppet, otherwise all the classicness, if that's a word, is taken out of it.

i know in the AOTC documentary they made a ESB cgi yoda as a test for the movie. He was doing his force speech to luke on daghobah.

I agree, I think with Ady's emoting modes for ESB:R and I assume ROTJ:R the OT Yoda will be bridged a more with the PT Yoda.

Yeah... The Ep1 Yoda needs to fade away... lol

I'm still a fan of the Ep. V Yoda. When your 900 years old I cant see your face changing that much in the years between Ep1 and Ep. 5

CGI yoda is not bad at all, but he almost always has a suspicious/angry look in his eyes. His personality it is not. Okay personality can change, but I prefer my OT Yoda to the Manga lookalike character we have in the prequel. That said I don't hate it. He's quite good.

The AOTC Yoda looked so fake I thought, I was really pised off when I got out of the theater after I saw it at the time. Puppets forever!

Yes... puppets forever!!!!... but not that horrible TPM one. Now there's something that went wrong. What was Lucas thinking??? "Oh yeah, that looks fine". Did he even care how unlike Yoda it was? Still gets my back up!

Bah!

Shameless self promotion...

^Why doesn't it sound like Vader? He's talking like a condescending jerk. Sounds good to me!

I should've been more specific. I meant to say that Vader's voice needs to sound like James Earl Jones for the "Apology accepted, Captain Needa." line. The line as we've all heard it sounds like an Ian McDirmid sound-alike (to me, anyway).

Not sure what you're saying, man.  You think that line sounds like the Emperor?  That's odd, but everyone's ears are different.  Maybe with the 4% speedup of PAL?

Just because he isn't speaking Monotone doesn't mean he doesn't sound like James. The line never stuck out to me. I thought his 1980 voice over performance was flawless. It was when they stuck in "Alert my stardestroyer blah blah blah" that I was bothered by James.

"The other versions will disappear. Even the 35 million tapes of Star Wars out there won’t last more than 30 or 40 years. A hundred years from now, the only version of the movie that anyone will remember will be the DVD version [of the Special Edition], and you’ll be able to project it on a 20’ by 40’ screen with perfect quality. I think it’s the director’s prerogative, not the studio’s to go back and reinvent a movie." - George Lucas

I'm more familiar with the dialogue filtered through PAL and it still sounds flawless to me.

I know what James Earl Jones sounds like. All I'm saying is make the line a tad bit deeper/lower pitch so it sounds like Vader's voice. The line is great but it just needs to sound like James Earl Jones/Vader. And BTW, I live in the US so I listen to films in NTSC format.

Ive got an idea that was already confirmed but i feel it should be considered, unless you disagree that is :)

anyways, what if there was the option of keeping in Temuera Morrison's 2004 Voice in the ESB:R, but restoring Jason Wingreen if there were to be say a ESB:R Purist Version.

To be honest I prefer Wingreen, but Morrison's Voiceover did sort of tie the two trilogies together a little better. and also will there be a possibility of a Purist ESB:R? :)

Wingreen is staying and Morrison's voice will be altered for the PT. That's one of the 'written in stone' audio choices for the Revisited series, and there are no plans for a purist version of ESB:R.

What the buckethead says is the truth.  I'm so excited to only have ONE version of ESBR, instead of the 4 different ANHRs (not including the NTSC/PAL differences).

ANHR has:

XVID AVI which is a different version from the
DVD5 (PAL/NTSC) which is a different version from the
DVD9 (PAL/NTSC) which is a different version from the
PURIST DVD5 NTSC.

ESBR will have:

DVD9 (PAL/NTSC) which will be the same as the
AVCHD (playable in most Blu-ray players)

AND THAT'S IT!

Besides, putting Wingreen's voice back in would be a simple fix to do for the individuals who want to have it.
