Anyone seen this? Hilarious.

I never listened to their podcast nor seen the British Office or Extras but I do think Ricky Gervais (amazing host at the globes) and Karl Pilkington are incredibly funny. I also love the Hanna-Barbera esque animation style.

I'm a huge Gervais fan (well, Gervais/Merchant fan), and have been ever since I discovered the podcasts back in '06 (they were putting out 3 free ones called The Podfather at the time). The Office is probably my all-time favorite TV show, with Extras not far behind. I've been looking forward to the HBO show for months because now my friends will finally know what I've been talking about all this time.

That being said, I only really like Ricky whenever he's working with Steve Merchant. Here's why:

Stuff he's done with Steve:

-The Office

-Extras

-XFM Radio / Podcasts

Stuff he's done without Steve:

-Ghost Town

-The Invention of Lying

-His stand-up specials

As you can see, there's quite a bit of a quality difference there. They've got a film coming out soon called Cemetery Junction though, which is the first thing they've written together since Extras, so I'm hoping it'll be good.

Mine too! I love that show! Steve Currell is sooo hilarious! I love how that show can continue on for so many years, use the same gags over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over again, and still manage to have as mediocre humor as it had back in the beginning. Such an awesome show! So, who is this Rick Gervalis guy?

Oh, I heard a rumor that the Brits liked The Office so much that they are going to make their own version of it. What losers, can't even come up with their own ideas! Absolutely ridiculous! Of course, whatever BS they come up with can't possibly be near as good as the original Steve Currell version.

Heheh, this is the part where I get pummeled...

I hated the Steve Carrell Office, but when I saw the original Office, I fell in love with the show. Extras was great as well. I really liked Ghost Town and The Invention Of Lying. I really like his style. I saw him on Inside The Actors Studio about a month ago, and I really like him.

"The other versions will disappear. Even the 35 million tapes of Star Wars out there won’t last more than 30 or 40 years. A hundred years from now, the only version of the movie that anyone will remember will be the DVD version [of the Special Edition], and you’ll be able to project it on a 20’ by 40’ screen with perfect quality. I think it’s the director’s prerogative, not the studio’s to go back and reinvent a movie." - George Lucas
