Man, I just noticed that it's been over 2 years since this thread was first made. It doesn't seem that long at all.

Nobody ever said it would be easy. Just wait until ROTJR and everything will star all over again.

Hmm person same isn't he?

Even the revisited saga cant take this way, i hope that future releases will reconsider the design ;)

I hope not, getting a person who actually pays attention to the OT yoda should make the CGI yoda for the PT.

GL will most likely do that, but I think the PT Yoda is the only thing that needs replacing.

The OT is perfect and should be left alone. If he is going to destroy his films, he should destroy the ones nobody likes.

"The other versions will disappear. Even the 35 million tapes of Star Wars out there won’t last more than 30 or 40 years. A hundred years from now, the only version of the movie that anyone will remember will be the DVD version [of the Special Edition], and you’ll be able to project it on a 20’ by 40’ screen with perfect quality. I think it’s the director’s prerogative, not the studio’s to go back and reinvent a movie." - George Lucas

It's 25 years and living in a swamp, I wouldn;t worry so much about it. Go live in a swamp for even 3 years and see how you look.

Hey, I lived in Louisiana when I went to high school. I know people who live in the swamp, they don't look bad.

I think this looks awesome. I appreciate the original puppet, but I love this mockup. This is what the prequel Yoda should have looked more like.

I think it would really bridge the Sagas like the EU never could. And I say I like this because it is more realistic of a change than to re film a puppet in the prequels.

I have proposed on several occasions that they should scan the original puppet for use in the PT. They have 3D scanners that could do the job perfectly. It would be amazing. They could even scan the puppet for the skin of the model. It would take just a little tweaking to make him a little younger, but he was still around 800 years old in PT.

Wouldn't the original puppet not have deteriorated to the point where that would no longer be possible by now

Apparently not besides there are some very good replicas out there too, anything would be better than the TPM puppet though, what were the thinking?

No it's not, I saw it a few years ago at an exhibition... It's currently held in the LFL archives at Skywalker Ranch...

If I saw correctly, they replace the TPM puppet with the CG Yoda after AOTC...

Preferentially I prefer to see the puppet we all know and love in ESB:R BUT with Ady's emoting tweaks... 25 years is a long time and facial changes do occur (I mean look at someone's pic from 25 years ago and of course you'll see plenty of facial changes). Not to mention he's been in the middle of no where waiting for Luke on a planet where cosmetic resources are non-existant... I say keep the og puppet but Ady can totally tweak it and make it emote making it look great which I know he's already done with certain clips he posted:

Yeah, but bone reconstruction? The cheekbones and forehead are drastically different between the CGI Yoda and the Puppet Yoda.

Mmm... I see what you mean. Still it's the PT that has to come closer to matching the OT's Yoda then, not the other way around right? I do like the CGI Yoda in the PT actually. They should of made more of effort to match it with the OT. Still... maybe osteoporosis has kicked in... Not like there's many good sources of calcium on Dagobah. ;)

The problem I have with writing off the age/appearance difference is a proportional one.

Yoda said in TESB "For 800 years have I trained Jedi".  So, let's call him 900 years old just to give him some time to get old enough to become a master and teacher.

Now, humans typically live to 80 or so, some pushing 90.  That means that Yoda's life span is roughly 10 times that of a human.

Working backwards from that perspective, 25 years in Yoda's age difference is the equivalent of a human aging 2.5 years.  For Yoda to look proportionally older from PT to OT, there would have had to have been upwards of 250 years in between.  Of course then all the key humans would be long dead (or nowhere near being born yet, depending which direction you're counting.)

My outlook on life - we’re all on the Hindenburg anyway…no point fighting over the window seat.

I bet they had stuff Yoda didn't though.

Haven't you ever seen people in the last few years of their lives though? Sometimes they can change  quite a bit.

That's true but relatively speaking he has been on his last innings from the PT through to the OT (not unless he's David Bowie in The Hunger).

That's genius! Good work! :)

I would also like to bring to attention fixing Vader's line "Apology accepted, Captain Needa." so it sounds like Vader.

Author
Time

That's one of the best lines in this and any other film.

Delivered to perfection.

Besides I think (and correct me if I'm wrong here Angel) that mockup isn't a serving suggestion for ESB:R but pointing out how different the PT CGI Yoda is from the original puppet.
