Well speaking as a history buff, even though I love The Sound of Music, I can tell you that the twain have never met.

I agree with GundarkHunter that it's just kitschy fun. Musicals aren't usually meant to be taken seriously. Just out of curiosity are there other musicals that you enjoy? How about you Bossk?
