When DS2's superlaser destroyed the MC80 class star cruiser "Liberty" (the first star cruise destroyed), I think the beam should go right through the ship and it's concussive energy of the hit should vape it's escorts (the frigate and the corvette that are next to it) and maybe some starfighters too. I always thought that only one ship got hit and nothing happens to the ships around it was kinda odd and it would show the crazy power of the superlaser.

I see your point and I´m not against it although I don´t think that having the beam "stopping" after hitting the Liberty looks bad; afterall, the imperials would have adjusted it for a small target... On the other hand, if we think about the estimated size of the DSII and how big those laser beams must be... having such a weapon used on a trivial target as a cruiser looks an awful waste of energy... :D

Having the Liberty´s escorts being destroyed as well makes sense; if not the DS laser itself the explosions of the Liberty alone should destroy the corvette and fighters and at least damage the frigate. Actually, back in the day, shockwave damage by nearby exploding craft was one of the few cool additions to the X-Wing Alliance game... And as a somehow related piece of trivia, if editing a mission and have the DSII fire at a Super Star Destroyer in the game, it would oddly take several shots to destroy it; but if the shot went THROUGH the SSD when firing at another target, the SSD would be destroyed immediately, in a way achieveing the effect suggested in Rogue Leader´s post... :)
