Or Ady (or whoever) just gets rid of the stupid beak; I always thought that the beak was a thrown-in afterthought. If anything was to be done, I would try to animate the rows of teeth to actually close/constrict like an actual mouth making biting movements and something to show that it is anticipating the meal above.
A good example is the sarlaccic creature near the end of the TV miniseries THE ODYSSEY with Armand Assante (at 5:45 of part 10 and the beginning of part 11).
