Definitive Collection Laserdisc Box for GOUT

I've had this idea for quite some time now but never got round to doing it till now. So here goes: I decided to recreate the 1993 Definitive Collection Laserdisc Box at a normal DVD size to use for my GOUT DVDs as they are basically a copy of these LDs and I think it would look kinda cool in my collection of various releases of the OT.

But I need some help from you guys. I know many of you have the real Definitive Collection Laserdisc Box Set and I'm still missing some parts so it would be great if someone could provide me with some hi-res scans of all the pats of the box including the sleaves for the films as I was only able to find low-res ones on the net.

Thanks a lot.

Here's what I've done so far (only a low-res version)

Mine's in storage but the sleeves were just black also.  The only artwork per se was the booklet that listed out the chapter contents of the discs.

And not to be nitpicky, but your cover looks like it's designed backwards.  Most boxes are laid out in the same fashion as the case covers - back-spine-front.  Yours won't build up properly.

My outlook on life - we’re all on the Hindenburg anyway…no point fighting over the window seat.

I'm pretty sure that the sides are right acording to these pics:

But I need the hi-res scans for stuff like the text under the logos in the back.

Ok, I see...you're trying to literally recreate the box.  I thought you were just trying to make a standard slipcase with the same font and logo design.

That is a pretty cool idea!  I've always liked making boxes for my custom DVD's.

Now *there* is a well loved Definitive box set!  I can tell that one's been played a few times.  Hey, I had a Definitive box for a while and I scanned much of it.  I'll see what I have that you can use.  Please be patient with me.  My file server left the network recently so I have to copy the files to a flash drive via CLI... something I hate doing.

Wow, that would be great, I almost forgot about this, thank you. And take your time, I'm preocupied with other projects at the moment anyway.

Well, I didn't have as much as I thought I had.  Maybe I scanned them and put them somewhere else?  Anyways I have a couple of things that might help anyways.  I have a scan of that TIE and X-wing.  I think it was taken from the hardbound book inside, but I also see it on the flap.  And I have a scan of the front and back covers of one of the booklets.  There is similar legal/copyright text on the back.  You can tell it's different, but at least it gives you a look at the font and maybe you can work out what it's supposed to read.  PM me with your email address and I'll send the pics (about 36 MB).

Would you happen to have the actual font used for the "WIDESCREEN COLLECTOR'S EDITION" and "THE DEFINITIVE COLLECTION" text?  I'd very much like to obtain it for a very small project.  Essentially, a one-time use thing.

Oh, I'm sorry, I didn't notice your post before, but I don't have the font anyway so no harm done...

Sorry to bump such an old thread, but I have been search all over for the font on this box, and I finally found something very close, which I thought others may find helpful. Also, I was just super excited and wanted to share. :D

Looks like it is primarily Baucher Gothic Medium Alternatives, while the first W just is Baucher Gothic Medium (non-alternative version), but flipped horizontally.

Another super cool thing about this: If found this through MyFonts.com's "What The Font" service, which I had and awesome experience with. Upload an image of the font (I cut one from a .png of the laserdisc trilogy logo I had). Then, the tool identifies letters automatically, asks you to correct any mistakenly identified characters, and searches the database for matches. If it can't find one, you can then choose to submit it to the forum if you are a member (free), and people look it up and help you ID it. I had an answer within 2 hours.

Here's my query:

And the WTFont tool page:

Hope this helps someone else!

So what i had hoped to do was use Harmy’s Despecialized Blu-Rays, with someone’s disc labels (showing the movie title and the opening space scene in each movie), Ronwlim’s FANTASTIC boxset features and Criterion-sized cover art, and either his box design shown on Harmy’s YouTube, or a recreation of the LD Definitive Collection that you’re trying to do. I’m just having trouble finding a place to go to get the outer box, booklet and cards made.
