Anyway, Dan Castellaneta, Homer Simpson's voice actor, first based the voice of Homer on a loose Walter Matthau impression. He said that the first drawings of the character reminded him of the actor, particularly the mouth. As the show went on, the voice became tiring to do and so he changed it to the current "chin-to-chest" voice that we all know, approximately during the 2nd season.
