I agree with the view that Waterworld is underrated. But I think Citizen Kane is overrated, though Orson Welles did a good acting job in it. I don't share the opinion that modern film is crap. Some modern film is crap and some is good. And plenty of older films are crap, including many hailed as great classics (Raging Bull comes to mind -zero humanity in that thing). I don't buy the view that there was this golden age of film that's gone and that modern film is now all useless. I'm actually kind of fed up of hearing that modern film is crap. Sure, we've got crap like Transformers 2 and Gi Joe and Avatar, but we've also got films like Hurt Locker and Bronson and Harry Brown and Gran Torino.

 

 

I mostly agree. I think that there are a lot of great modern films. Also, I do think Citizen Kane is a bit overrated but not that much so

Im already 36 (edit: 87) hours into the Godfather triology and i aint got no ideas as to whats happenin with this shit. Im not italian....but im europe, and im getting over my issue with subtitles. So, i should love this triolgy, no?

(2) My wife rented it because she likes movies with pretty dresses.

(3) For a Noel Coward period piece, I rather liked it. Damn funny at points, with an interesting undercurrent of disillusionment at the end of an era. I never thought I'd laugh so hard at a film that deal with the horrors of surviving WWI and euthanasia.

(4) 8/10

Waterworld could be pretty good if u think about it, if you ignore its budget. Its like Mad Max but nothing like Mad Max.

 Waterworld is better than Mad Max because there's no Mel Gibson in it.

Well, I'm not going to go into specifics but last year I liked Up, Star Trek, Inglorious Basterds, Coraline, Harry Potter 6, Where The Wild Things Are, Watchmen, and Up In The Air. Avatar was goodish. I have yet to see The Hurt Locker, District 9, or any of the others big ones this year.

I also saw Youth in Revolt which was fun if you're ok with Michael Cera. I saw the Men Who Stare at Goats which was pretty bad.

Agreed Otox. U didnt need to quote my whole post there. Although Avatar got to too tree hugging, do gooding up my nose to really apriciate it. The 3D was was my highlight of my year, though i said somethin elswere to undermine that statement, but it WAS off the wall though.
