Hey All...

I recall it being mentioned elsewhere here in this thread (tho not directly connected to ESB) that Adywan plans to fix the end of 'Jedi' by getting rid of that ridiculously annoying 'ghost of Hayden' (I hope that's TRUE!) and it made me remember something I figured you guys would all get a kick out of...

...I laughed my butt off the first time I saw it, hope you get a smile out of it...:)

I had an issue not so long ago here that turned out to be a very nasty virus that wiped out one of my hard drives in the following days. May i suggest a virus scan just incase?

From now on, until about May time, everyone that donates will get this clip. The direct link for donations is now in my signature.

Please don't share it with anyone or post it anywhere please. You can discuss it here but please don't post screencaps

WOW!  The 'asteroid chase' sequence was always a highlight of the movie for me, and your latest exclusive New Year preview is sheer awesomeness.

It had some brilliant tweaks I wasn't expecting, and the stuff I was hoping to see has turned out wonderfully.  Everything done so far has made this great effects sequence far, far better.

Incredible stuff Adywan!  :)  I've sent you a PM about it all.

It's a testament to the vibrancy of that clip that my better half who detests all things Star Wars leaned over my shoulder to remark about how enjoyable it was.

At the core you have the original artists work, the cameramen, the model makers, the set builders, the lighting, the sound, the music, the photographers, that cast and yes the writers but Ady's work is so much more than a new frame and a dusting down of the canvas.

It looks brand new in a way I don't think even Ady himself anticipated when he set out to do ESB:R.

It's the best film, surely it's the easiest right?

Sure it's frustrating to wait but I'm so glad that he is taking the time to get this right.

And I'm sure he is learning as he is going along.

Let's face it he will need all the patience and every hard earned skill to make the next four hold a candle to what he has already done.

The only thing that bugs me about the Star Wars movies that I don't think anyone addressed is the lack of visible glass paneling over starship windows. Because of the compositing techniques available at the time they look more like openings than windows

It adressed by axiaeuxine. He made a mockup too.

But at the end the reflections marked as busy shots of PT.

oh well

To me it's plainly a matter of realism. It actually takes me out of the movie sometimes.

Ady stated that the reflections will be gone when PT comes.

Thinking though the idea of a non reflective material is good but cant stand if we take the fixing idea of this edit. Considering that ady added reflections to bespin windows i could expect some subtle things to bridges and some cocpit shots..

Well you can clearly see in many hangar shots that the cockpits are made out of somewhat reflective material. Even a relatively matte surface would show some glare/gloss. It would even be cool to see scratches on the windows.

D'oh! I hit the POST REPLY button too soon...

Also glad to hear your wife's OK Ady, although that really sucks about the car.  You mentioned you were itching to get back to ESB:R a few posts ago... is there anything holding you up (lack of money?  time?).

It was to do with his monitor packing in.  However, Jacen has kindly posted him a good replacement from abroad recently.

As far as the 'reflections/scratches' thing on cockpits etc., while it may have been a nice touch if introduced from the start of the 'Revisited' edits, I wouldn't like to see an inconsistency with 'Star Wars:Revisited'....

And it would have been an incredible amount of work to include I reckon, considering the amount of various shots we see out of different craft throughout these movies.

"Dynamic" is the one word I would use to describe the New Years clip.  Nearly every shot has something added to it to make it more exciting.  If I were allowed to do a comparison (can't because of Ady's "no screenshots" clause), I really don't think static images would do it justice.

Ah... I forgot about the whole monitor fiasco/debacle/incident.  Thanks ImperialFighter.

I know what would.

Vibrant description, preferabbly in iambic pentameter.

Thanks for the positive feedback folks!

A thing I had been working on for a while which kind of coincidently ties into Octorox's reflection comment, was Leia's apartment in Bespin.

I know that this topic was talked about at great length, about it's look, it's design, reflections and it's impossible shaped room which changes from shot to shot. I was just bothered by its lack of life, especially after following the Cloud-car in the previous shot and the frame stands still long enough for you to admire the obvious matte painting. I don't know what Ady has come up with, but I'm sure he's added something to this.

I still might fix a few bits, I might tighten up the Cloud Car flying by the window to cover the original Car you can see in the window, but as it is, it looks like it is the Car's reflection, maybe also add a shadow of the Car on Leia's building, like the original shot. I didn't like the Original Car, to me it looked out of scale?? dunno??

Thanks again for the support, makes me more creative!!

Hello all,

Been forever since I posted...but I have been keeping up in reading. Just nothing interesting to say.

Great work Jaitea. The scaling was really well done I had to look at it a few times.

I don't think I'm supposed to.  But I'd love to do it - it would be magical.  You would be so transfixed by my words, you would eventually forget about the clip itself, and everything else would just fade away as the sound of my voice...

I'm sorry, what were we talking about?
