My point is, that the better SFX were just the sugar coating with which Lucas tried to sell people his ridiculous 'political correctness' and disney slapstick upgrades he incorporated into the movies.
Basically he's saying: "Want better SFX? Then you got to live with the changes I came up with."
I also don't understand how you OT antagonists always anticipate, that people would not want the white boxes, black lines and force fields fixed. People just want the original theatrical cuts. And of course they want it in the best possible picture and sound quality available for the DVD format. That's something everyone would expect from a DVD release.
@Lord Peeler: LMAO, are you noticing that you're becoming kinda desperate to come up with logical reasons for not releasing both cuts on DVD? You seem to be very afraid that it might actually happen.
