It's a shame the destruction of Centauri Prime in B5 is so primitive as it has some points of similarity.

Not all Naboo cities need to look exactly like Theed, they just need the general feel (not all European cities looked the same during WWII).

There may be some of the awful League Of Extraordinary Gentlemen film which could be re-used too. Venice looks very much like something you might see on Naboo.

Yeah, anything Italian.

And mattes could always enhance cityscapes once footage is found usable.

I don't think using footage from other movies is a good idea. I've seen it done in other fan edits before, and it just doesn't feel right. Not just because it's recognizably from another movie, most of the time the new scenes just don't have the same style as the rest of the movie.

But I am all for spicing up the invasion of Naboo. No idea how to do that with the material we have though.

Just a thought, but the look of Naboo is a total rip from the book picture "Dinotopia."

I havent seen it, but a tv show was made of "Dinotopia" and perhaps its domed Itallian style citites on Waterfalls could be utilized in some way.

It might work if the pilfered footage was altered beyond being recognisable as it was original shown, used more as a source of elements which can be montaged together.

I have no idea how Adywan has created his new Cloud City mattes for ESB:R but I assume he used existing material and created new mattes via a mixture of photo manipulation and his own artistic skill (give us a clue Ady).

What could be done is to take footage from other films and television shows as elements and combine them with a bit of artistry to create new shots that look like they fit into Naboo of the PT but no longer resemble the shots they originally came from.

It's either that or doing any new shots from scratch which might be easier for people like us to do now than it was in 1998 but is still far from cheap or a walk in the park.

Pre-existing footage at the very least could be used as place holders for new shots in retroactive workprints showing how reworked PT episodes might be restructured.

I too haven't seen the television adaptation but it may well be worth checking it out.

Good call there TheBoost.

yeah.

I fix this long time ago. In fact i dont remember who asked me to use my mockup to his edit .

He used material from dvd ESB menus. And then painting..

ben_danger, that clip is amazing! It's actual character development for Anakin too, he has taken his final step in becoming Darth Vader and fully embraced the Dark Side.

The only thing I don't see working with this new dialogue is Vader asking about Padme. If he doesn't care about his old self anymore, I don't think he should care about his old life anymore. But that might be better, cause that would allow for the removal of that terrible "NoooOOOooooo" *shudders*

This is a preview video from the new V2 cut of my 3-in-1 Prequel edit Shadows of the Old Republic, but I'm including the video here as well because it includes an example of redubing the analysis droid from the deleted "Dart Analysis" scene of AOTC, which rewrites the toxic dart into something different and has the droid giving Obi-Wan info about the planet Kamino instead of Dex (just skip to 1:30 of the video for the scene):

Excellent! Almost exactly what I have in the works for my edit. I absolutely love the voice you've done. Is it your own? The original droid voices pissed me off.

Yes, I used my own voice to dub the droid (since computer speech synthesis software proved too unreliable and the synth voices weren't nearly as convincing as a real actor), but I also ran it through several audio processes:

- a noise filter to remove any room static (also gave a nice little effect to the voice)

- some sound enhancements

- a pitch shift to make the voice sound higher

- a nearly-silent reverb effect

- a low filter of a "vocorder" effect

The use of "specialists" and "specialise" so closely in the really well dubbed new dialogue sounds a little odd. It might flow better if you changed one. Otherwise it's a nice way to cut to the chase. Though the droids in my opinion look just as if not more daft than Dex. The silly lips and the spiky hairdo are something that could really do with alteration if it is possible.

In some ways, yeah they're kinda weird looking, but I'm so used to robots/droids in Star Wars looking unusual that I can handle their appearance (heck, there were plenty of wonky-looking droids in the Jawas barge and the Cantina scenes of ANH).

However, I can live with the droids a hell of a lot more than Dex, mainly because Lucas has the nerve to try and make us believe that that ugly sack of CG crap was suppose to be one of Obi-Wan's closest friends in the universe (other plotpoint in EP2 which had me just screaming "Bullsh*t!" in my mind while watching it...).

It's the cartoon anthropomorphism that I can't stand.

Threepio and RA-7 are androids but they look more sculptural, those droids come from the same design school as VINCent from The Black Hole.

If you look at the really odd droids in ANH they don't look even remotely cartoonish or humanoid.

Even the Gonk is a box with legs, no recognisable eyes or lips.

Well the animators have to do something to these models to look alive... Thats why they removed the faceplate from Optimus :( Its all matter of animation and emotions. They have and miss a point.

I'd venture the opinion that there is nothing useful you could conceivably do for the prequels without completely remaking them.

To quote Palpatine, "You got an ATM on that torso Lite-Brite?".

While that sounds like an impossible dream give it five years and who knows what might be possible?

I know that the PT as it is can be made interesting (at the very least) because I've seen many fan-edits that come tantalisingly close.

I've had a bit of a think about Jason's droid scene.

I'm still not sure what purpose those droids are supposed to serve anyway.

When Obi-Wan goes to the archive library he talks to people, he sits at a computer screen and in the scripted version he gets no information (but I assume normally he would just get the information he is looking for on the screen like in a microfilm section of any major library).

In the droid scene Obi-Wan goes into one side of a sterile environment, he puts the dart into a little slot, the droid picks it up on the other side, gives it to another droid who puts it into a swirly scanner thing, gives it back to the other droid who puts it back in the slot and Obi-Wan puts it back in his pocket.

Obi-Wan's pockets are not a controlled environment, nor are his fingers so why bother with the sterile environment anyway, the evidence has already been contaminated?

It might work better if the slot in the droid wall was moved to the console in the archive library.

That way a graphic could come up on the screen and your wonderful voice could come through the console speaker without having to be contaminated by those pointless droids.

A computer doesn't need fingers or a cute face it could just scan the thing and tell him what it is and where it is from.

If the Jedi Archives are meant to be so hot surely they wouldn't trust their work to droids anyway. It could also show him a map pointing out were the system is and load it onto a data thingy. Thus cutting out all that mystery which is never actually investigated.

Just a thought.

so something like blade runner do you suggest mr bingo?

That actually humans can give the order to investigate?

A Mother like computer screens?
