No worries!  When ROTJ comes out it should have Sebastian Shaw back as the ghost of Anakan.

I wonder what happened to the idea of having two audio tracks; one with Jason Wingreen's voice and one with Temuera Morrison's.  My AVCHD only has one main audio track (excluding the commentary track).  Whose voice is it?  (I'm not very good at judging, but it sounds like Wingreen's)

EDIT:  I might have got this AVCHD from torrent not newsgroups, so maybe it's missing an audio track.

It was clearly Wingreen's. (Thx for the name, btw.) Temeura's voice just sounds so frakkin' out of place - annoyingly thin and completely unmenacing. There's no way you couldn't tell the difference between them, especially if you've already watched Empire dozens of times (like I'm sure most people here have.) Too bad there's no way to edit that dude out of Episode II.

Thanks.  Does the AVCHD you downloaded have an alternative audio track?  I don't mean the director's commentary: I mean a second 5.1 mix.

I uploaded the Episode V Torrent to Demonoid and it's exactly the same one Adywan posted on usenet.

Author

Nope, just the one. I was wondering about that myself, but I honestly don't care about having the 2004 5.1. (I got it from Demonoid, so it must be the one maggot_brain uploaded.)

Thanks to both of you.  I guess the idea of having two audio mixes was abandoned at some point and nobody edited the first post.  :-)

I invite anyone to create a custom soundtrack for the EMPIRE AVCHD (or 15 gig mkv) that eliminates Luke's (ie. The Emperor's) scream during his fall at Cloud City.

No, it was only ever meant to have the 5.1 laserdisc audio track. I guess it was a bit confusing the way i wrote it on the first page so i have changed that. When i decided to recreate the 1997 SE with the original Emperor there was no way i would be able to use the 2004 mix.

Thanks for the clarification, Adywan.  Sorry for causing confusion.  It was this kind of post from all the way back in June 20, 2008 that originally confused me. I always wondered about this after the way the first page's information was written, but never got round to mentioning it until we were talking about it a few nights ago. :-)  I hope you had a good Christmas.

mine will be totally different than the Wookiegroomer versions. The OT will be colour corrected, Han shoots first (same as your wookiegroomer version), Boba's original & new voice (selectable), maybe re-rotoscoped lightsabers (still deciding), commentaries, original ESB Emperor restored, Hayden force ghost replaced with original Sebastian Shaw version and maybe some other tweaks. Although, apart from commentaries, the PT will be pretty much the same so i may not bother with those now.

Ok, coming into this late because I finally got a BluRay player for Christmas.

Burned TPM and TESB - they work fine.  Tried ANH on three different brand discs with both Nero and IMGBurn and none of them work.

Where do I start to figure this out?

By "none of them work", do you mean that you couldn't burn the ISO file, or that when you burned the ISO file to various discs the discs wouldn't work on your player?  Either way you could start by describing exactly what happened. :-)

Discs burned fine according to the computer, BD player wouldn't recognize them.

One I burned with Nero, the other I burned with IMGBurn - both on WinData +R DLs.  Third was an early attempt on a Memorex but I've since used those blanks up so I'm not concerned with trying them again.  Used "Verify" on both of them.

TESB was burned on a Memorex and TPM is on a WinData and they both work, so I'm guessing the disc brands are not the cause.

Well, as you used Imgburn, it would have prompted you to use UDF 2.50 when you burnt the ISOs, so I would imagine you did this.  When you put the disc into the player, what exactly happens?  Do you just see a black screen?  Is there not an error message of some kind?

If your player plays ESB and TPM, it must support AVCHDs, so that's not the problem.  The only difference between ANH and the other AVCHDs is that ANH is a pure 24fps, whereas the others are 23.976 fps.  This has been known to cause problems with some players, but this usually manifests itself in the audio drifting out of sync with the video as the film progresses.  What model is your blu-ray player?

Sony BDP-S360.  I think it's still the 006 firmware and they just came out with 007 about two months ago, so I'm working on upgrading it.  Still, the disc should work either way, right?

As for IMGBurn, I don't know how I did it before, but when I just tried it now, I seem to get stuck in a loop.  I select the ISO and it tells me "You should have selected the MDS file - we'll do it for you".  It tries to do that, at which point it spits back "Unsupported file format".  I'm on IMGBurn 2.5.0.0, whereas my previous attempts were with the earlier version 2.4.3.0 (I think...don't remember the numbers...point is, I recently upgraded)

Now what?

The disc should work on either firmware.  It sounds like there's a problem with your ISO.  Did you download it recently from newsgroups? I seriously doubt the version of Imgburn is the problem.

Are you sure you didn't burn a data disc by mistake the first time round?

Tried burning the same ISO with Nero.  I think one time I just double-clicked on it and Nero fired up automatically, so I couldn't have done it wrong.

Got it from a torrent earlier this year.  I'll try finding it again.

I think there was a problematic version on torrent at some point.  PM sent.

This is the first time since 97 that I've seen Star Wars in great quality again.

What a nice job with the color correction. It looks so different from the DVDs

Thanks a bunch for these great discs Ady!

(and heres hoping for VI sooner rather then later)

Well, I'm getting there.  Downloaded it again from a torrent and burned with IMGBurn.  This time it plays but it has the sound sync problem that others have mentioned.

Next?

You might consider asking with a little more courtesy.  People are usually happy to help you, but simply writing the word next with a question mark could come across as rather abrupt.

The answer to your question is that you will have to re-encode the AVCHD.  There are instructions on how to do it if you look back through the thread.  I uploaded the corrected AVCHD a while ago, but I couldn't keep it in my account for all that long, and I don't have the upload speed to post it again.

I seem to remember that the procedure was:

1. Load the AVCHD into tsmuxer and demux the audio.  Keep tsmuxer open.

2.  Use Besweet to convert the audio from 24 fps to 25fps.

3.  Load your new audio file into eac3to and convert from 25 fps to 23.976 fps

4. Import your new audio file into tsmuxer and check the option to convert the video (24000/1001).

5.  Check the AVCHD radio button and start muxing.

6.  Burn your new AVCHD with Imgburn - UDF 2.50.

I wrote this from memory, so you might one to check back through the thread if you run into trouble.

Stevodevo is quite correct that some Sony players appear to have the problem and others do not.  Either it depends on where they are manufactured or there is a difference in settings.  I would tend to suppose that it is the latter, and it might be helpful if people with these players could post their settings, but as I have a Pioneer I cannot help with this.

Good luck!

Well, after looking and looking and trying a torrent that would take a week to download. I finally gave in and purchased a RapidShare premium account and am currently downloading the movie in 100 MB pieces, I'm on piece 14 right now. I just hope this thing works when it's combined. I really don't like torrents all that much, with RapidShare I can use my maximum speed.  Thank you Adywan for making this possible!

Could some one please upload Ep V to rapidshare, I can't find it.

Thank you very much! :D

I'm going to throw out my 2004 DVDs if every thing goes alright. I almost beat my head into the wall when I saw what they did to the movies. Again, thank you Adywan for correcting this mistake! :D

Update: I just ordered a pack of Verbatim DL DVDs, so I'll see if it works when they get here.
