I think the issue here, in part, is that the divide is too wide, and it is nearly impossible for either side to relate. The reason they seem like stupid neanderthals to you is because you don't hold any of the same values they do, and they don't hold any of the values you do. There is no connect there. You cannot relate. The fact that they constantly harp on about the same things endlessly doesn't help (dey took er jabs!), but quite honestly, the other side is just as asinine.

I'm a conservative Christian and I have to say that I think the celebrities you listed are "stupid neanderthals." I agree with a fair bit of what they say politically, but I don't agree with their methods or how they act, nor do I think all political conservatives are stupid.

Its the same way with Christianity. Some guy runs around taking money from poor old ladies claiming he can heal them, and all Christians look stupid. No Christian or Republican can represent everything you believe and keep a perfect record so as not to make you look stupid.
