If it is anything like his "Jaws: The Sharksploitation Edit", it should be awesome!
I dunno why he doesn’t make threads for these both here and at FE.org, so I’ll do it for him. 😉 Here’s the thread at FE.org:
https://ifdb.fanedit.org/the-war-of-the-stars-a-new-hope-grindhoused/
It is still in the works, but close to being finished. He’s working on menus at the moment and doing a few tweaks. I have watched the workprint version and I can definitely say you guys are going to LOVE it! Tons of creative ideas in it and plenty of laughs, too.
I’ll update this thread whenever possible.

^Yessir, it is done in a similar style. It feels to me like one of the old Turkish/Italian rip-off flicks, and in this case, that's a very good thing!
Thanks Ripplin and Sluggo
I will probably work a little more on it, but I think a january release is possible.
I want to thanks Puggo to let me use is Puggo Grande (16mm preservation) as a basis for this edit.
"The War of the Stars" - sounds like a new celebrity reality show.. ;)
The Monkey King - Uproar In heaven (1965) Restoration/Preservation Project
Nezha Conquers the Dragon King (1979) BBC 1.66:1 & Theatrical 2.35:1 preservations

yes, someone already told me that.
It's the exact translation of the french title "la guerre des étoiles".
Although in french the meaning his more like "the war from the stars" rather than stars actualy fighting (!)
Still doing subtitled R2 and Chewie?
Star Wars Revisited Wordpress
Star Wars Visual Comparisons WordPress
^R2 is, Chewie isn't. I found watching it that Chewie doesn't talk enough to bother. Having both of them subtitled might feel like overkill, too. I think there's just enough subtitling it it.
No reference for the visual part of this edit?
I saw some in fanedit.org but nothing much. How extensive will be the effects?

Pictures already posted at fanedit.org:

Puggo Grande 16mm preservation:

Documentary footage "puggo grande lookalike":
(cropped in a better way in the final edit)
I don't want to "spoil" too much things for now, but maybe I'll post more picture in the following days
Really looking forward to this. I posted this on FE earlier, but for those who haven't seen yet: I'm working on a set of covers based on the Planet Terror posters for this one
What a cool idea! Does Jaxxon know about this?
Where were you in '77?
Why, did Jaxxon do something similar?

"The War from the Stars" sounds even worse than "The War of the Stars" in spite of the latter's ambiguity. Regardless, "The War of the Stars"does fit a grindhouse edit quite nicely, precisely because it could be a celebrity reality show: it shows the edit is not meant to be taken too seriously.
"War Among the Stars" might serve better as a serious translation of "la guerre des étoiles". That style of title was used then: "Love Among the Ruins" (1975); Love Among Thieves (1987) etc.
"Stellar Wars", on the other hand, sounds like an unfortunate series of occurrences during the football season.
I should put my [joke] list of proposed titles here, going with an exploitation flick theme. Hang on...
- "Sweet Luke's Baadasssss Adventures"
- "Destroy All Imperials!"
- "Black Vader Wheeze"
- "Imperial Holocaust"
- "I Spit on Your Death Star"
- "Faster, Luke! Exhaust Port! Exhaust Port!"
- "The Yavin 4 Death Star Massacre"
You forgot "May the Farce Be With You"! :-)

He's credited on Puggo Grande for providing the 16mm prints used. He might want a copy of this.

How about simply calling it "StarKiller"? Luke's original last name, and also the title of the fake, badly dubbed Italian space epic from Joe Dante's "Explorers". ;)
Where were you in '77?
I think you answered your own question lol.

Oh ben ça va hein, on ne se moque pas s' il vous plait !... On fait avec ce qu' on a.

Ah tiens, je n' y avais pas pensé (l' habitude surement). C' est déjà un peu moins nul, ça me rassure.

I don't think I knew you were French, ABC. You should join "The French Connection." ;) It's a little group of us all playing MyBrute. TMBTM and blueyoda are in. Just click the "fight me!" link in my signature if you're interested.
I guess it would be interesting to give the prequels the look of the Puggo Grande 16 mm preservation of ANH, like in the pictures TMBTM posted.
^To what end?

It's just too bad the site is down right now. Oh well, it'll be fine later.
