hmm something else then...

How about:

Around when Luke and Leia is kissing, you can hear a message coming in the background-> "All senior personnel report to command centre" could this be enhanced a bit? a bit louder perhaps? :)

And:

In general the main guns on the AT-AT looks blocked, perhaps one could "open" it up to look more like a cannons pipe barrel?

Star wars: Revisited. is now on facebook :)

Okay, I have a suggestion that will 96% not be considered for this edit and a lot of people will hate it but.... The cave scene, I'd be okay with it cut from the film and just having it on the dvd as a deleted scene. Watching the new Star Wars Family Guy made me realize how unneeded and confusing it really is.

The big boob nipple gun confused me.

I love everybody. Lets all smoke some reefer and chill. Hug and kisses for everybody.

The cave? On Dagobah? I'd say it's necessary. It shows that Luke's greatest fear is to become Darth Vader himself. Without that knowledge, we just have Luke versus the bad guy. That doesn't matter in Family Guy, so they didn't bother.

The cave is possibly the most important scene in the film and sums up exactly what the trilogy and indeed the saga is all about.

Fear leads Luke to a glimpse into a possible future and to a very personal past.

Nothing that was in the original version of ESB should be cut.  SE shuttles and wampas, yes, but the original version is paced perfectly.

And ESB is why Kershner should have directed ROTJ and even the prequels.

"The other versions will disappear. Even the 35 million tapes of Star Wars out there won’t last more than 30 or 40 years. A hundred years from now, the only version of the movie that anyone will remember will be the DVD version [of the Special Edition], and you’ll be able to project it on a 20’ by 40’ screen with perfect quality. I think it’s the director’s prerogative, not the studio’s to go back and reinvent a movie." - George Lucas

At six years old I never found it confusing, but then again it's hard to argue with the exhaustive and thoughtful critique of Family Guy.

Now we just need to decide who should have written 'em. And who should have played Anakin. Oh and maybe Padme. As long as Ric Olie stays.

Don't worry, I'm not going anywhere.  I'm a little worried about what Ady will do to me, but I've got several years to work on him...

Ady posted a couple pictures over on the Facebook page (also the pictures I'm using for the "Blu Not Blue!" campaign).  Figured I'd share them here, but instead of my usual order, I put the GOUT in between the DVD and Revisited, to see the two different directions the color can take.

Well, Yoda is a definite improvement over both the DVD and GOUT, and of course, Hoth looks a lot more like GOUT (except brighter).  Maybe a little too bright to my eyes, but as always, the film in motion will decide how well all these changes work.

I like the lightsaber burn effect when Han is opening up the Taun-Taun's belly... Nice touch!

The blue above the cave exit/entrance would remain as the blue from outside would reflect on the cave surface (light refraction).  Not sure what you mean about the pylon mask though.

BTW, anyone else think the hanger scenes are too bright and maybe a bit "set-ish" looking because of it?

That's probably more realistic, though the blue on the outer cave area (the entire area of the cave left of the door and Chewie) would have to be de-blued and darkened.  I wonder if some hi-def footage from some of those nature blu-rays would work to put in the cave exit area...

I would imagine it would be dark (as it is stated that nightfall is approaching) but that you may not be able to see too much detail, as there would be a lot of wind and snowstorm type activity outside.  I would also say that the Han outside shots need to be darkened (or at least how in some 80's films the upper half would be darkened - something to indicate that it is nearing nightfall).

Hey Ady, I know you're probably already done with the Tauntauns but I just had to share this neat video I just found:

Your work on the Tauntauns looks great, are you doing it manually?

That is impressive work.

Imagine if that were applied to all the great stop motion films.

Depending on the model it looks better than a lot of CGI work I've seen, it has a physical presence that a lot of CGI (especially the cheap and early end) doesn't have.

The latest clip looks great - astounded by the colour correction which will, alone, make this a very desirable edit.

Am also pleased to see the improvements made to the apparition of Obi Wan, making him appear more 'Force-Ghost-ish', which was something I always wanted to see done.

I was wondering though, can the glowing blue line around Obi Wan here be made to 'shimmer' even more? Or else have the figure of Obi Wan shimmer to some extent? I'm sure that on Dagobah Obi Wan's Force Ghost is more 'sparkly', with the hazy blue line around his figure more pronounced, and so thought that adding such elements to his manifestation on Hoth might bring about some nice visual consistency.

Regardless, 'twas a belter of a preview!

On the clip, I absolutely love the singeing left by the lightsaber after cutting into the Tauntaun.  Nice quick burn on the fur and a little extra flame out on the saddle straps.  Very nuanced and helps lend even more believability to the shot!

Yeah, very impressive. A lot of the detail is lost in faster motions, though. I noticed a comment he made after someone suggested King Kong get the same treatment. He said that it's too fast and jerky to look right for his technique.

I think Mr. Harryhausen would get a kick out of it, but I don't know that he would use it, as it's not natural. Hmm...

That motion blur technique is quite impressive. I can see how it might affect detail, but wow, it really does smooth the animation out big time. I'd love to see that applied to Clash of the Titans.

I just watched the new clip, and the color correction alone is remarkable. What a difference! Myself, I found no problem with the glow around Obi-Wan. Nice to see continuity fixed also. It is a bit odd at first to see the flipped shots, but in the end I think it's for the better. Thanks for the clip!!
