That’s a rumor of a new Star Wars movie.

And here’s Haden Blackman, who made Force Unleashed, saying a Force Unleashed movie is a possibility.

http://geektyrant.com/2008/09/star-wars-force-unleashed-to-get-the-big-screen-treatment/

I don’t know if you’ve all heard this before or if either of these things are at all likely.

Anybody have any thoughts on this or know anything more?

Alas, Thomas Dolby (the source of the quote) has corrected himself.

The last wave of rumors got started when Lucasfilm was shooting new stuff for the Star Tours ride.

If the live action show ever gets underway, there will be more speculation.

My fondest SW wish is to see Mark Hamill back in the saddle playing an older wiser Luke, (as prophesied by Starlog magazine decades ago) but I'm not holding my breath.

In the meantime, we need to let Mr. Dolby know we want the soundtrack to Howard the Duck on CD! :P

That still leaves the Force Unleashed movie thing.

Thanks for the info. :)

Had the prequels been any good, I would have really liked to have seen Mark Hamill get to play an older wiser Jedi, even if it couldn't have been Luke.

Once I would have liked to see a film with an older wiser Hamill Luke, but after Indy 4 with an older Ford Indy I've realized Lucas would screw it up.

Exactly. Indy 4 shows just what can happen with things like that. This is the exactly the kind of thing that the EU is for. However they lost sight of that with the NJO.

The EU in the mid 90's was amazing. Now it is all for the sake of making the Prequels make sense.

"The other versions will disappear. Even the 35 million tapes of Star Wars out there won’t last more than 30 or 40 years. A hundred years from now, the only version of the movie that anyone will remember will be the DVD version [of the Special Edition], and you’ll be able to project it on a 20’ by 40’ screen with perfect quality. I think it’s the director’s prerogative, not the studio’s to go back and reinvent a movie." - George Lucas

 Touché!

I was mildly surprised to see Harrison Ford in a movie with Brendan Fraser since I thought they were different caliber of actor.  But then I realized that I haven't enjoyed Ford in a movie in a long time...  Probably since before Six Days and Seven Nights (my first recollection of disliking a Ford performance).  What happened to this guy?

I kind of liked Ford in Six days Seven nights. It was the first time in almost a decade he smiled and said funny lines.

About a new Star Wars movie, I think there's a strong possibility for it to simply be the pilote episode of the new live series on the big screen. Like they did for Clone Wars. I only hope it will not turn to be cheap looking.

He got divorced. His wife usually picked his roles for him, or at least acted as an advisor. Six Days Seven Nights was the first one he did after the divorce IIRC, and his career has been in the shitter ever since.

I can recognize that he was certainly trying to be funny in 6 days 7 nights.  I, in particular, just didn't find him to actually be funny.  :(

Running down his IMDB, it appears that I tried to like him in Air Force One, and I thought he was alright in the Clancy movies (though I do prefer Alec Baldwin (I know, that's weird!) as Jack Ryan) but Sabrina was the last movie I thoroughly enjoyed his performance.

Everyone here has seen Mosquito Coast, right?  I saw that for the first time 7 years ago or so... I think it's an excellent film, a unique role for Ford, and quite the little gem.

Wow, both George Lucas and Harrison Ford saw their greatness meet its demise with their divorce.

I don't think it is that weird. Hunt for Red October is by far my favorite Tom Clancy novel based film, and I don't think Ford could have pulled it off. Baldwin was perfect for the character of Jack Ryan. While I enjoyed the other two films well enough, Hunt for Red October is the only one I really care to continue watching.

Harrison Ford is still doing good work. Like, I enjoyed his recent work in Crossing Over. But it's true his work is not as good as it used to be.

RANDOM HEARTS is the worst Ford movie (to me), a boring piece fo sh..

I kind of like his effort to change from his "good guy" characters type of roles in What Lies Beneath, even if the movie itself is just an "okay" ripoff of Hitchcock's work.

I agree that Mosquito Coast is THE Harrison Ford best work as an "accomplished" actor.

Regarding Henry is not bad at all, too.

Regarding Henry is very good. I don't think Mosquito Coast is his best work. It's just the sort of work people make a fuss about as acting, so people like to call it his best work. But some of his more relatable roles are better. Random Hearts definitely has problems, but it has some value. It stuck with me surprisingly well. It has human depth of feeling.

Harrison Ford is a very hilarious man too. All of the times he has been on Conan O'Brien, have been the funniest things he has ever done.

Six Days Seven Nights was a Harrison Ford film 100%. That was the same Ford we saw in ESB and Indy.

I wish Star Wars was treated like Star Trek. They should try different generations of characters. Even the EU doesn't have any depth to it, because they seem to stick to Luke and Han.

I would like to see a new directors take on the Star Wars Universe.

You should try Legacy, if you haven't.  It's 130 years or so after RotJ.  It has a Skywalker in it, but I really dig it.
