the orange isn't just for the football team,  that is your college's colors.   All your sports team wear those colors.   I can't see how stores being empty on Saturday would be an annoyance.  As for the Sportstalk,  if you don't like it, don't listen.   Surely there must be other radio stations to listen to.   4 hours a day is nothing.  In Philly,  we two stations that talk Philly sports 24/7.  What's wrong with people  being nicer and friendlier.   As for putting your pride in a bunch of 18-22 year olds,  I guess if you aren't a sports fan, you wouldn't understand.

You're right.  I don't understand.  Like doubleofive says, people just take it too seriously.  It's a game where people throw a little ball around.  Not saying that's a bad thing, but, really, what's the big deal?  Why base so much around it?  Haha, C3PX needs to get into this thread a bit more.  I love his "annoyed at sports" rants.  I think even if you're a sports fan, you can't help but find them funny.

But think about it this way.  Sports is absolutely no different from being a fan of anything else, be it video games, anime, or Star Wars (but I'm sure lots of sports fans would take offense at being lumped in with such "nerds" but it's true).  Yet, for some reason, it's much more culturally acceptable to be a fan of sports than any of those other things.  Imagine if your local Wendy's sign read, "Support the New Dragon Box Release!" or if people rioted in the streets when the horrible 2004 Star Wars DVDs came out... ha, actually, the world needs to be more like this come to think of it.  I like the sound of that!

And again, sorry to hijack your thread, but, honestly, it does intrigue me quite a bit, and I wouldn't mind opening a fun discussion about it.
