You might end up with a much better monitor.

That might just further annoy Jacen's wife, though!

Hey, Mr. Jacen! I'm using a 10-year-old $6 monitor with slight discolored spots on the right side of the screen and a broken microphone, so keep me in mind if Adywan doesn't want it. Haha. ;)

He might end up with two monitors which could be very handy for editing.

Clearly the monitor should have lasted longer, Ady was sold a lemon and consumer law is on his side.

Oh my God, yes it is.  This semester was the first semester I was allowed to work on the two-monitor workstations at school (as an Edit II student; in Edit I we had to use single-monitor workstations), and it makes everything much more streamlined and quicker.  Plop your timeline and source/record monitors in the right monitor, and all your bins and, well, anything else in the left monitor, and you're good to go.

If you aren't already (and if at all possible), I'd highly recommend going for the two-monitor setup, Ady.

And will you have three monitors when you get to Edit III, and so on up the line?  ;-)

My outlook on life - we’re all on the Hindenburg anyway…no point fighting over the window seat.

Does that mean 6 screens for Sith, or -3?

How would that be even possible???

Id love a 3 screen setup so i could do the wing mirror thing in driving games (ala Buggy Boy). I guess the technology would be wasted on me, as i wouldn't be remaking a mastrpiece of cinema history with it, and just lookin at pyorn three times as much as i do now. :-)

But 6 screens would start looking like spider vision too me.

I saw a pic once of a guy who was using 8 screens for Flight Simulator - 3 wide on top for the windows and 5 wide below that for the cockpit.

And then there's this.

Well, actually, we use three monitors in Edit II - two computer monitors, and one CRT (like these) that's tied to the timeline while you're editing or the input while you're capturing.  I only ever use it to preview a complete cut, though; it's much easier to look at the source/record monitors on the computer screen while editing.

This came up On the general Star Wars board thread about Vader deflection of Han's blaster bolts :

Look carefully, and you'll see there is a shower of sparks on the doorframe next to Han, suggesting the blaster shots were originally meant to be deflected. It's a quick cut though, so perhaps they decided against it in editing.

It might be a cool addition to actual see that more clearly.

Well looking at the specs of the monitor its says...

 AC 120/230 V AC 100/240 V

does that mean it can take both power systems? I know my gateway monitor came with a US plug as well as the UK version. If it can use both voltage systems then this would be perfect. Does it say anything about the voltage on the monitor at all?

Also, on the back of the monitor does it say which revision number it is?

 Ady,

What I can tell you is this-- it came with the standard US power cord (three-prong male to plug into the wall, three-prong female to plug into the monitor).

Revision-- A04

Hope that helps!

=o)

I know this seems kind of random, and I'm not sure if it has been brought up yet. (I've read about 100+ pages of this discussion so far between calls at work, so I'm trying to catch up, but that's A LOT of info to cover...)

Anyway, I noticed that on Dagobah (right before the X-Wing starts to sink) when Luke is doing the one-armed handstand with Yoda standing on his foot, right after he begins to levitate the first stone it cuts to R2 who slowly turns around, but looking closely you can see two little feet underneath R2. Perhaps this could be obscured by fog?

I've noticed that in general many shots with R2, because of the way he moves, make it seem obvious that Kenny Baker is acting inside. It's not necessarily a big deal, we know these are only movies after all, but is it worth a look at to see if there's any way to smooth/alter R2's movement in any shots so that it looks more like he's moving in his "wheel mode" instead of an odd wobbling?

I know this is part of R2's characterization, and I like his quirkiness at times, just not when it's too obvious, that's all. What does everyone else think?

Star Wars is not my whole life, but it makes my life whole.

It is exciting to think we may get a CG Yoda in Ep1 blu-ray

It is kinda neat how even after SO much has been said about SO many things about the movie, people are still finding things all the time. Vaderios comes to mind, with some of the tiny details he finds in certain single frames. Haha. It's a real game of "Spot the Looney Errors." :)

Ah... now that's better! I hated that blue-ing of ESB. I also liked the replaced backdrop when R2 is scanning for Luke... got rid of the Falcon and added... a blockade runner? (00:32).

Great job! Merry Christman everybody!

Shameless self promotion...
