I don't care that this may be a wasted effort. The video is a good idea.

This is the Star Wars Damn Fool Idealistic Crusade.

Do you guys think Lucas is aware of Ady's work?  He probably does, but does he even care?

I think a video is actually a great idea.  How would you get it to them?

I'm not sure if Youtube would be capable of displaying the resolution needed to distinguish it properly though.

Youtube can do 1080p now. If we want to compare what the films could look like on blu-ray to what they look like now it could work.

how about post a video on youtube asking GL to give us a poper release.

It could help.

I was thinking the same thing. We need a video showing the lackluster quality of the GOUT, comparing it to, say, Ady's AVCHD version. Like a commercial!

Got a response back from Grant Imahara! He said the OOT is the only reason he still has a laserdisc player. I replied that we deserve it on blu-ray and asked him to pass the petition on!

That is awesome. Love Mythbusters. I be constantly checking the petition to see if he signs.

Do you even know what thread you're posting in?

I also emailed The Digital Bits directly.

I see they mentioned the site and gave a direct link to the petition.

Nice one.  I always liked that site.

Interestingly enough, I don't see the signature of Bill Hunt, who wrote the article...

Give it time.  The first petition was up for years while people signed it.

All right, maybe I'm being a little impatient. Out of curiosity, how many signatures did the first petition get? Any notable people in the fandom? (Besides Adywan, Mike Kaminski etc.)

Jay, the twitter message is a few characters too long. You might want to revise it. I simply deleted the part where it says originaltrilogy.com since that's in the actual address already.

Thanks, I dropped the URL from the page title.

Thanks Jay, really glad to see the ol' petition come back. Hopefully, ol' Georgey heeds to our wishes this time.

I don't know if I want to sign it. Once the OOT is released on Blu-ray, then no-one will buy the next edition, which could be Adywan's someday. I feel that if Adywan can turn ROTJ into a four-star movie like ANH and ESB, why wouldn't he look into him to help with an Ultimate edition?

Lets get realistic here, GL will not realease just the OOT on Blu-ray. Just because a hundred people on a website ask for it doesn't mean its going to happen. His Blu-Ray DVD will be an Ultimate edition with more changes to it. Hopefully he takes the easy way out and hires Adywan.

Ghost, you are a sycophant.  Why are you posting in threads about the theatrical cut, anyway.   Take a hike, troll.

I love the idea of the petition.  I at least feel like I'm doing something to get the theatrical version of the OOT in a quality release.

And that is exactly what the petition is about!!!

To further your statement, it is better to ask George and really get the message across, than sitting in a computer chair, doing nothing, and saying it will never happen.

"The other versions will disappear. Even the 35 million tapes of Star Wars out there won’t last more than 30 or 40 years. A hundred years from now, the only version of the movie that anyone will remember will be the DVD version [of the Special Edition], and you’ll be able to project it on a 20’ by 40’ screen with perfect quality. I think it’s the director’s prerogative, not the studio’s to go back and reinvent a movie." - George Lucas

If I lived in FS I would put signs all over the place. Saying "give us a poper restored  original originaltrilogy on blueray George."

We fans got to keep up the good fight. Never give up. It can happen. Everone who can,  needs to post a video on youtube about it. What would it cost to put a ad in some magazine.

Don't let him think putting out the GOUT got the fans off his back.

Maybe we can suggest if they decide to do this, you know the same day hell freezes over, that they should employ Robert Harris and co. to make sure it's done properly? I'd hate to see pink lightsabers again.

I was also thinking about our agreement, about the OOT going onto the Blu-Ray format.

And if this Blu-Ray format DOES work out I want to transmit my OOT to the format THIS YEAR.

George Lucas: I'm sorry you fell in love with a half-completed film.

Yeah... that's what you said when the Special Editions came out. Looks like the OOT is going nowhere. I have to finish restoring the OOT.
