Well, I tried editing the Duel between Mace and Palpatine, and there are alot of sound problems, as well as crossfade issues. But:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JrtCURDLxwg

I re-edited the sequence of events to when anakin arrives

The conversation between mace and palps in as follows-Mace: In the name of the Galactic senete of the republic, (blah blah blah)

Palpatine: I am the Senete!

Mace: We'll decide your fate (then)

Palpatine: Are you threatning me master jedi- (he stands up)

Mace: Not yet

Palpatine: It's treason then.

Well, I think it works. The rest of the changes you may or may not notice. Little stuff like making palpatine less whiney at then end. I tried to recolor Agen's saber, but I gave up. My editing skills are no match for some of you out there but, hey, I tried.

Yes it was rough, but I like where you are going with this.

I like what you did with the Mace/Palpatine conversation.

It's kind of weird how Anakin just stands there for most of it. Could you cut it so that Palpatine says "the Jedi are taking over!"  just as Anakin is entering the room, and then the force lightning just as he reaches them? It would give him something to do while he's being indecisive.

or

Something could be done to make Mace seem to be the aggressor in this situation so that the force lightning is more of a defensive move. If he's trying to tempt Anakin, he needs to be more sympathetic. His change from weak/frail to FORCE LIGHTING!! is too fast.

Otherwise, good job.  Less whining is good thing.

Over all i think was a definite improvement. All the good points:

The pace was better, more exciting and took out the CGI Palpatine flipping from a metal thing to flip back in the same place which ive always hated (so wish the CGI Palpatine that smashes the glass would look better). I like the new dialogue.

Few minor things that i would personally would of changed:

Didnt like the recolouring of Agen Kolars saber since i like the saber colours the way they are. Thought the line of ''We'll decide you fate (then)'' came a little too soon and had to rewatch that little bit a few times to try and make out what he said, turned my speakers up and still cant hear it exactly so i think without being told what he said i wouldnt have a clue, maybe you could change that so the line comes maybe a second/half a second later. Dont know if it was just me watching that scene over and over but didnt feel anakin was in two minds about the situation. I know why i feel this was due to you cutting a few silly lines of dialogue which i totally understand.

Overall i loved it and a inspiration to other editors who wish to improve ROTS. Well done! :D

I was thinking... How plausible would it be to use some of the voicework elements from the Clone Wars CG cartoon series in replacing some of the dialogue in AOTC and ROTS? The actor who plays Anakin on the show sounds a pretty good deal like Hayden Christensen, and there's an entire TV show's worth of dialogue to pick and choose various snippets from. Obviously by far and wide most of Christensen's original dialogue would probably remain in tact, but the option is at least there to maybe swap out some of the stuff that does work (or was just plain horrendously acted) with something that does work.

I had the same thought myself. I think it could work, but obviously is restricted to cutaways.

Actually, Ive watched a few episodes of CW and alot of the voices are off.  (at least to the movies).

C3PO is the only character to have the same person do voice-overs.

Clone voices would also work well.

I hate the new Zealand accents for Jango and the clones. Nothing against the accent itself, just the logic (or lack thereof) behind it grates on me. Accents are not genetic.

Also, I find it inconsistent with the OT, in which we only ever got American, English, or indistinct accents. Nothing particularly strong.

Haha... I think I prefer the clone wars version over Hayden. The animated version is exactly how I would want Anakin to be. I can completely believe him to be to the future Vader. They managed to eliminate the whiny attitude he had in the live action films.

I have just a quick idea, In ROTS, in the battle of kashyyyk, I think it would be cool to show a wookie pull out the arms of droids. This would make more sense of what Han said in ANH.

I doubt it'd help it make more sense, but it'd be a nice homage to the OOT.

But when the Wookies are fighting the battle droids they are winning it would make more sense to show a Clonetrooper getting his arms pulled off because at that point they are losing.

I couldn't think of another way of wording it.  It wouldn't help make more sense, it would just be cool to mirror what Han said.

Yes but i feel it would be pointless just like adding ET in episode 1.

It would just be a cut scene or down in a corner.  I'm not going to make a big deal about it, I just thought I'd through the idea out there.

Where is everybody?

I had a couple more thoughts.  Will we see General Grievous in AOTC in any edit?

Also, I thought about this watching DarkJedi3P0's sweet video; if Ady is re-inserting Boba's old voice in ESB, he most likely won't make Jango into Boba.  I would like to see Ady work with DarkJedi3P0 and see if he can't re-dub Jango because I prefer Jason Wingreens voice over TM's.

Why do you think this?

Has anyone tried to edit a scene where Palpy tells Fett to go to Geonosis? Or anything to show he's a double agent?

Author

That's my plan (via hologram) as seen in my mockups on my thread. My Mac Mini should be arriving tomorrow, so I'm going to be doing my cuts again in Final Cut, then moving onto all that funky jazz.

I still think finding dialouge for this scene will be very difficult to pull off. You'd be better trying to find a real good inpersonater. The Clone Wars would have some cool stuff to use. Making it flow will be very hard to do.

I've been thinking about lightsabers in the prequels lately. Dooku wasn't really a legitimate Sith was he? So shouldn't he have a blue or green saber? (I think it should be green so when he fights Anakin, we see a rare green vs blue) Not seeing a red lightsaber in AotC would be cool because it would put even more emphasis into the title of RotS. And in RotS, I think Anakin should have red lightsaber at the end, revealing it when he turns it on to kill the younglings.

I've also been thinking about titles, has Adywan mentioned anything about renaming any of the prequels? I always thought Phantom Menace was a terrible title since it was first announced and Attack of the Clones is misleading. I really like Revenge of the Sith and if it had to be changed, the only ones I'd agree with are "Rise of the Empire", "Fall of the Jedi", or "Return of the Sith"

My friend suggested this, says it goes well as a saga:

The First Hope
The Republic Strikes Back
Return of the Sith

A New Hope
The Empire Strikes Back
Return of the Jedi
