STAR WARS: EP V "REVISITED EDITION"ADYWAN - 12GB 1080p MP4 VERSION AVAILABLE NOW — Page 589

There are threads for that at the moment.

Ady will probably only start a ROTJ:R thread when he has this one done and dusted.

I hope when he does people will keep the ESB/ROTJ Wishlist thread going because not all of the ideas on that thread will appeal enough to Ady to put in his versions.

But i don't care how long this takes me to do. If an idea comes up that i think would benefit the edit then i will try to do it, even if it delays the release by an extra year or so. The last thing i want to do is rush the edit just to get it out there and look back thinking "god i really wish i had done that" and not be happy with the finished product.

Bingowings, I wouldn't worry too much about adding any more suggestions here, even at this stage, as there's plenty of stuff that Adywan has to try to do yet anyway.

While I reckon he has a certain idea of just how far he wants to go with changing things in his 'ESB:Revisited' version, I always liked his attitude in this post that he has towards what he wants to achieve with these extensive projects.

But I agree that the 'ESB/ROTJ Wishlish' thread is more than sufficient to keep things simple for other continued ESB musings and early ROTJ ideas until Adywan eventually starts his main 'ROTJ:Revisited' one for that.

Love the new angle on the tunnel and the Cloud City shots! I don't see why it's too late to do the tunnel one, either. Vaderios can send a hi-res shot of the tunnel (which is static anyway), then the Falcon element just needs to be added after, innit? (possibly some interactive lighting on the wall?) Or am I simplifying that process too much? ;)

Tried to eliminate the white spots replacing them with space. Assuming that the cave has gases and smoke(as we see later) some slight rays of light enhance the depth here.

Just remembered to add that I always thought those individual 'white areas' seen at the cave entrance here seemed a poor continuity error considering that the opening itself is one big hole!  For extra continuity in the sequence, it would be neat to see a small asteroid passing overhead in any new starfield that Adywan puts there.  Just seeing the starfield at all will be good though.

Ripplin, this shot isn't static it turns out, as the camera pulls back slowly as the Falcon approaches us.  That movement definately adds something to the shot, even if it remains at this original angle.

The shot i used it the excact same that ESB has already. only flipped and slight rotated. I add a bit more detail to the black areas too from the same image...

Interactive lighting was my first ideas there but i ended up with a more subtle way.

Well true. not sure it will look with a more open exit..

It might be also useful to have a check list of errors in the SE (not artistic changes but things like continuity fluffs and special effects bloopers) which can be ticked off if they have already been fixed.

Well i had some. Like  a rebel pilot is slipped when running while Luke and chewie star talking before hoth battle.

Stormtrooper's visible hand

ALso when the Rebels cheering when the transport is gone there is one woman that looks at the camera and she is like forced/bored to rise her hand.

I'm sure Ady welcomes all suggestions but at this point I could imagine it being very frustrating to get so far along only to have some really good idea pop up which means he has decide whether not to do it or rework a sequence in his outbox.

I have a talent leading others to frustration :P

I haven't forgotten, but there's a couple of other things I'm hoping to show first.  :)

I dont post very often anymore but I did a couple of new Axia Editions pics, one for Empire and one for A New Hope.

The Empire one simply changes Leia's lipstick color because I HATE the overly pink lips she has in this scene.

The A New Hope pic will be in the appropriate thread. To visit older Axia Editions please visit my website, thanks. http://www.axia.ws/axia

Is that even an error? I mean, the Stormtroopers ARE just dudes in suits, and they're playing dudes in suits.

I like your version of the bridge shot, except the guy standing in the middle. I like the new panaling.

Seeing a human hand under stormie armor. It's not a mistake. Nobody assumes they're robots or monsters at this point.

The same reason that this is noted as mistake

I put that shot specific for the overlap that the middle oficer gives to the shot. Overlap=depth

Their armour is pretty useless as it is so having obvious openings in it takes a badly executed idea and adds extra naffness.

At the very least the Stormies should look like they are well armoured (it provides a symbolic notion of the threat they should represent).

Tatty armour is for rebels and pirates (Fett and Co can have dings and tears in their armour, they aren't part of a tyrannical military).

The Empire is meant to be staffed by well regulated and equipped troops (men acting like robots).

Been watching this thread progress over the months and wow, there are alot of really cool suggestions; however, as cool as they look, they seem to take away from the "How I use to rememeber Empire".  Is it really that important to change an angle that still works, or to study a split second shot so closely for a costume defect, or for in-camera extra that may or may not be moving that way you want them to?

Anyway, the ideas are really cool, but they seem to eco what George Lucas does; changing, just because he can.  I was at one point doing a shot for Ady ( Lukes X-Wing approach to bespin ), but I couldn't get/find a CG X-wing that was detailed or textured well enough that matched the studio model. I did a test render/ composite with a X-wing I found for free on the net. Be glad to post the test render if anybody is curious.

What is the point in wearing armor when laser blasts go right through it?

"The other versions will disappear. Even the 35 million tapes of Star Wars out there won’t last more than 30 or 40 years. A hundred years from now, the only version of the movie that anyone will remember will be the DVD version [of the Special Edition], and you’ll be able to project it on a 20’ by 40’ screen with perfect quality. I think it’s the director’s prerogative, not the studio’s to go back and reinvent a movie." - George Lucas

If what Ady was doing was trying to replace the OUT I'd agree with you (this is what Lucas has tried to do with his own re-workings over the years).

Seeing as Ady is effectively giving us a SE that makes more sense I don't.

The SE's were a half arsed affair, some of the changes made perfect sense others didn't, some of them were incomplete (applied to one part of the films but not to others, like the added lift outside the Cloud City window in ESB:SE, one minute it's there next minute it's not). This was made worse by the DVD versions and their bizarre colour and sound choices.

I'm sure if Ady could track down the elements to give us a HD version of the OUT he would (he has given us versions of almost everything else).

The changes that do get made go through quite a bit of peer review and debate on the "Does it make sense to do that" side of things so I wouldn't say that it's change for change sake.

It would be great to see whatever you have in terms of rendering and model work, especially if it illustrates a potentially useful edition, enhancement or implementation of any of the ideas on this or any other thread.
