One of the main reasons they ended up using Phil Tippett's Wampa was actually because Stuart's Wampa ended up looking like a lovable,huggable snowy friend sort of like a big white version of Ludo from Labyrinth so Phil was asked to make something fiercer and more intimidating.Some good pics here:
