Yes BINGO, THE HOLE LOOKS TERRIBLE.  IT DOESNT LOOK REAL AT ALL.  I DON'T MIND THESE BANTHA SCENES, BUT THE BACKGROUNDS NEED TO  GO.                                                        SORRY ABOUT THE BAD TEXT, IMI STILL TRYING TO FIGURE OUT MY IPOD,

You mean, "I hope Ghost is ok."  One good piece of pedantry deserves another!  :-)

I wouldn't want that or imagine it possible with the existing footage but it might be possible to add some almost subliminal images of their ghosts trying to shield Luke.

 Sorry for the late response.

I don't care for this idea on a storytelling level. Force-ghost physiology aside, the pivotal idea here is that Luke is now an adult and on his own. He's lost his mentors and has to step up.

Yoda and Obi showing up to help him diminishes Luke and the dramatic purpose of the climax.

The Force Ghosts of Ben and Yoda have pretty much given up on Anakin and treat him as a lost cause, they have invested everything in Luke.

Luke hasn't given up on Anakin even after a brief moment of madness he still manages to pull back to serve as an example to his fallen father.

Because of this act Palpatine begins to kill Luke (the last Jedi and only hope Ben and Yoda have for getting rid of Palpatine) so it makes sense that they would try to save him but it also makes story sense that they should fail. This puts Anakin into the driving seat, either he does something to save the only person who believes he is worth saving or he continues the long wait for Palpatine to find his daughter and train either her or her children to replace him.

Luke has done all he can do and ultimately that part of the story isn't about Luke (his part of the narrative ended with his throwing away his lightsaber and refusing to kill Vader). Everything from that moment on is about Anakin/Vader and which way he will turn.

So having the Yoda and Ben trying to save Luke doesn't weaken Luke's importance or their trust of him it strengthens it and Palpatine defeating them with ease intensifies the situation.

In terms of physiology, the ghosts are manifestations of the Force, Palpatine's attack is also a manifestation of the Force.

If Palpatine was attacking Luke with a lightsaber or a blaster I don't think they could offer and protection but because he is using the Force directly they are fighting on the same battlefield.

On a separate note, the preview footage of the television remake of The Prisoner looks like it has some very nice desert footage in it which might be adjustable. If anyone has seen it do you think it could be recycled as elements for ROTJ or the PT?

Going back again to the idea of the Death Star reveal, I hope this rough mockup gets the general idea of what I was hoping to convey though I would love to see someone else do the general idea more justice.

in the Marvel Comics adaption of the film when R2-D2 is projecting the hologram of Luke, he's wearing his cloak with the hood up, like when he first enters Jabba's palace.  It gave a mysterious aura to Luke because in the artwork you couldn't see his face.  i always thought it would be cool if Luke was wearing his cloak in the hologram, obscuring his face in the film.

I really dig this idea. Does anyone think it's doable?

Speaking of robes (and $175 just lying around):

You have no room in your house for a ROBE?!  BTW, the sparkles comment made me laugh (thx for that, rcb)...

for some reason, that reminded me of this (yes, it's clickable.. though if you try to scratch and sniff, I am not responsible for the outcome):

Just another idea for making the Ewoks less cuddly.

How about Logray (the Ewok medicine man) only has one eye? He's only in a handful of shots, and one cloudy eye makes him seem older, wiser, tougher, and more intersting.

Another thing, this has got to be one of the worst scale problems I have ever seen in a Star Wars movie:
Shot 1 - Showing the Banthas

 Forget scale and bad CG.

How can it make any sense for a massive herd of beasts that size to be stampeding across a barren wasteland? They aren't bison and the Sea of Karkoon aint the American Midwest. It's not even the Siberian Tigha.

As beasts of burden for a nomadic Sand People they make sense. But on a planet where you actually have to FARM MOISTURE out of the air to live, how could a population that size survive, and what exactly are they doing in the Dune Sea? Even heards of African Elephants don't galavant across the Sahara.

He's got a lot of good stuff for visualization.  I'm going to try to contact him to see if I can't hotlink these pictures.

UPDATE: Because he's no longer taking commissions, he took off all of his contact info.  I'm going to upload the pictures to my Photobucket account with links to him.

If Adywan still has the strength to do a fan edit of Jedi - for me - the biggest wish I could hope for is a complete digital re-do of the Executor smashing into the side of DSII.

Sorry - but that has bugged the crap out of me since I first saw it in 1983 and was disappointed with all the other 'extras' added to Jedi that it was not updated.

In my mind's eye - after the shot of Home One's POV of the Executor listing towards the DSII - that the long shot of the ship diving straight down is fine - but then it needs to cut to a closer shot of the bow slamming into the surface and crunching upwards, causing towers on the Executor to collapse down towards the surface with interior explosions on the Executor rising up.  The DSII surface should be breached somewhat - with an expanding ripple perhaps of the metal surface expanding outward towards camera.  The Arizona explosion in Pearl Harbor is somewhat the idea when the deck bulges upwards before it explodes.

Then cut to a long shot of the entire ship collapsing into the surface - with cracks and interior explosions traveling up through the doomed ship (maybe even parts raining down off the sides like some of the building collapse shots in 2012) until the interior explosions hit the rear engines.  Then have them go nova - with big parts meteoring down to the DSII surface (after all the Death star does rotate to create it's own gravity).

I think a 'hold my privates' shot like that would be far superior to the 'flamethrower' up out of the Death Star shot that is currently there.

Sadly the Executor destruction suffers the same fate as Boba Fett.  Quick and without proper justice.  For such a prominent ship in the OT - I thought it deserved a better end than a quick flaming roman candle that we got.

I'll see if I can Photoshop some storyboard ideas to convey what I have in my head - and if someone with far more skill and talent than I can do it - then I think that addition to an Adywan Jedi edit will top the "Here they come" TIE fighter shot in ANHR which gave me goosebumps.

Just wishing out loud.

Definitely liking them visuals!!!!!!

"The other versions will disappear. Even the 35 million tapes of Star Wars out there won’t last more than 30 or 40 years. A hundred years from now, the only version of the movie that anyone will remember will be the DVD version [of the Special Edition], and you’ll be able to project it on a 20’ by 40’ screen with perfect quality. I think it’s the director’s prerogative, not the studio’s to go back and reinvent a movie." - George Lucas
