The other reason I think it should be put in is that Luke Skywalker is reflected in the glass which makes it interactive with the set and the environment. Thus the lightsabers should be reflected as well.

I was of the same opinion until Ady pointed out very clearly that from the position Luke is reflected in the window only the most microscopic part of the blade would be reflected and only for a few frames and it really wouldn't be worth the effort.

I'm happy with that.

How that would effect ROTJ:R would take all of us going over that film (again) with a magnifying glass and a ruler (which I'm sure we will do at some point over the next few years) and a lot of weighing up of the benefits by Ady.

But i like to bring this again since we had no word from ady. I remember at the begining he didnt like the idea but at the end considered to do something. who knows :)

No. If you look at the right side of the frame in that shot you can see the reflection of lukes legs come into frame but not enough that you would see any of the saber at all

Agreed. Having looked at that scene over the weekend, the placement of Luke and Vader excludes the chance of any 'reflections' from their saber 'glows' in there, just and no more....even in the one where Luke is closest to the window.

This would have made for a very nice, subtle addition had the actors been positioned just slightly further back in the set, but they weren't, so 'reflections' of saber 'glows' would definately be wrong now.

As far as the 'outer ring' of the windowframe perhaps being at an 'angle' to the rest of the windowframe, it turns out it's all aligned 'flatly'....so this wouldn't have any bearing either.

Nice work on that unused shot doubleofive.

I remember liking the original version of the set shown here. Although even removing the crewmembers walking past would also give a more 'remote' feeling for Vader's quarters, I still think he wouldn't be situated too far away in walking distance from the 'main action' on the Bridge.

I see that scene can work because when we cut from vader to wide executor shot that means that time passed. That blink in our eyes could be several minutes in movie. Executor was in the asteroid field. So i assume it took time to be out of it. So yes Vader can be more remotely and show that with this trick. The good news are that the doors are closing quickly so no hard work to the reflections down there. Making the hall dark and cold. Talk to vader is not an easy job.

Not to mention:

If Vader's chamber is literally 10 feet away from the bridge, how hilariously AIRPLANE does it make the scene play out when all Vader has to do is get his asthmatic butt out of that chamber, go out the door, turn left/right and yell out "Hey Ozzell! What the hell is going on?!" You know, as opposed to talk to them via TV screen?

So yes, ANYTHING to show that Vader's chamber is in a much safer place, like deep inside the Executor, as opposed to right next to the bridge on a conning tower with shields that cannot withstand laser fire from A-wings. A-wings fer chrissakes!

LOL Now I'm imagining Vader poking his head out of his door and yelling at Ozzell to "GET IN HERE!"

Doesn't make the Force Choke very impressive if he's almost just choking him through the wall, not through the ship.

I tried watching it but it was like 10 frames a second - which meant there was no way to see any of the lipsyncing or anything. Any chance you could upload it through the usual channels as well?

I accidentally deleted the video when editing the info so i'm re-uploading it now. Facebook is actually a lot better quality than YouTube so i will be uploading all videos to there from now on.
