Set a morning mood to copy pasted ROTJ shot.

2 Versions. One with fireworks one with not.

Some shit remain to be in.

I like to put some street lights.

Dont bother for the left corner. The camera doesnt show it :)

I want some feedback

I was thinking of replacing the fireworks on Endor to coloured trails like those used by flying circuses perhaps that would work better on Bespin or Tatooine.

Maybe he can't see them but can only see the partial deflection of the bolts.

There is a big thing made in the PT about the power of the dark side focused in a few individuals blinding the many Jedi to the powers of the Sith.

Maybe this works in reverse.

Only one Jedi and two Sith means the balance has shifted and Palpatine's cock-sure powers are weakening.

So when he refers to Luke's feeble skills he is assuming Luke is trying to reflect the blasts himself and not that he is getting some limited help.

Vader on the other hand may be able to see them as he holds the scales.

I was suggesting making it subtle (Monroville found my mockup, not the last word hopefully in the concept, too subtle to make out in a frozen image).

Palpatine is so snarly that he could notice and still keep the same expression and say the same things.

Hmm. Well the emperor not being able to see them would make sense, he never had a close connection with Ben or Yoda -- unless trying to kill them counts. But how do you show that Vader understands? Or is that the point? Are you looking for a way to illustrate his conflict without a flashback? I wish I knew how to make mock-ups, I'd like to see this in action.

I like those mockups Vaderios, but what about having it even earlier in the morning?

When Palpatine says "Your feeble skills are no match for the power of the Dark Side" he could (I suppose) be addressing Luke's evocation of Force Ghosts as learned skill or addressing the ghosts himself.

You might even be able to add some discrete voices in there encouraging Luke or attempting to put the willies up Palpatine.

But whatever is done it needs to be subtle (a full body floating apparition blocking all of Palpatine's blasts would look really corny and without new footage very fake, the PT has enough heads tacked on to CGI bodies as it is).

Actually, if the Yoda/Palpatine fight is cut from RotS, some of Yoda's defensive posturing could be used. I'm not sure what would work for Obiwan.

But yes, the key word is subtle. As though the force lighting is the only thing illuminating them until poof! they're defeated and disappear.

Edit: This would be cool.

Might be doable if it could be made to look like Yoda and Obi-Wan pop up just for a few seconds like they're trying to find some way to protect Luke but fail

well the first idea was the buildings would be almost like silhouettes with the fireworks illuminate their colors here and there indicating depth. But it was too dark... I liked the idea of dawn of the new era.

Maybe. I can try :)

Actually I would like to see this in ESB and have a nice happy day at the end of Return Of The Jedi. This picture looks sadder so it would fit in ESB with the imperial take over.

Add happy clouds and play Mr. Blue Sky at the end of ROTJ and we will have a happier ending.

"The other versions will disappear. Even the 35 million tapes of Star Wars out there won’t last more than 30 or 40 years. A hundred years from now, the only version of the movie that anyone will remember will be the DVD version [of the Special Edition], and you’ll be able to project it on a 20’ by 40’ screen with perfect quality. I think it’s the director’s prerogative, not the studio’s to go back and reinvent a movie." - George Lucas

Now thats a great idea! Thanks ESF

Pity that the rest of the planets are daylight...

hmm There is a shot of nabboo in TMP that shows the palace and its night.

It would be nice is we saw the dawn breaking over the different worlds of the Star Wars saga as if they were one world (so each world is brighter).

A nice idea, but each planet getting brighter and brighter then going back to midnight Endor would be a little jarring...

Not if you drop the family photo at the end and move from the pyre to the celebrations to something like SSWR's liberation of the galaxy ending.

The last shot with the New Republic fleet entering the Coruscant system with the sun rising behind the planet would sweet.

Or even go through the Endor celebrations to the family photo and pan up from there to the galactic celebrations...  It could work...

That reminds me of Bob Ross! Ahh, happy clouds with happy buildings. Maybe we can paint a little happy person over here? LOL

i have one for ROTJ:

in the Marvel Comics adaption of the film when R2-D2 is projecting the hologram of Luke, he's wearing his cloak with the hood up, like when he first enters Jabba's palace.  It gave a mysterious aura to Luke because in the artwork you couldn't see his face.  i always thought it would be cool if Luke was wearing his cloak in the hologram, obscuring his face in the film.  perhaps the lines could be re-edited so that he doesn't just blurt out "Hi there!  i'm Luke Skywalker the Jedi knight and i want my pal Han back!" ( i always thought it was dumb for one of the most wanted men in the galaxy to be introducing himself via message to one of the biggest crime-lords around with connections to the Empire.)  so maybe his intro line can read "Greetings exalted one, i'm a jedi knight and friend of Capt. Solo..." or something like that.  maybe even give Hamil's voice a bit more bass to add to the mystique and make Luke sound a bit more confident and dangerous?

also when Luke first enters the palace, to keep the mystique going, keep his face darkened under his hood and keep the bass in his voice until he reveals himself to Jabba.  (sorry if this is confusing, it's been a loong day.)

i have no idea how any of this can be done (if it even can), but i always thought those first scenes with Luke could have been so much cooler. that's just my 2 cents.

btw, i just saw Adywan's edit today and i was amazed.  i'm thrilled to see these new interpretations of my favorite movies.  keep 'em coming!

Actually, that is a really good point. There's been a lot of talk about his entrance being mysterious but that just gives it all way.

I really dig this idea. Does anyone think it's doable?

You could use Anakin's cloak from ROTS for a mockup (the differences would be hidden by the hologram effect) for footage it might be useless.

I'm watching ROTJ right now and I have come to the conclusion that the entire musical/dance number at Jabba's Palace should be completely removed. Although one might argue that it would cause continuity problems for when it shows the dancer try to choke Jabba and fall into the Rancor pitt. Well, that can be cut too. That way, when Luke falls down, the audience will be like "Holy crap, secret trap door!"

Another thing, this has got to be one of the worst scale problems I have ever seen in a Star Wars movie:
Shot 1 - Showing the Banthas

Shot 2 - Showing the Banthas from far away?

Then the shot pans to the left to reveal the Sail Barge, does this seem wrong to you? It makes the Banthas look like they're mice...

The whole of shot 2 is terrible.

The landscape looks more like butterscotch Ice Magic than sand.

also if you notice that footage is reversed ;)

The sand goes backwards when the wind blows it.

That reminds me, I haven't had dessert yet.

Has anyone written an EU story yet to justify this lousy shot of the Banthas being added to the film?  Wasn't there that one EU jedi who lived with the sandpeople?  You could write an awesome story of him living on Tatooine still and traveling to the pit of carcoon to help only to arive too late.  And he is killed by Boba Fett.

Yes BINGO, THE HOLE LOOKS TERRIBLE.  IT DOESNT LOOK REAL AT ALL.  I DON'T MIND THESE BANTHA SCENES, BUT THE BACKGROUNDS NEED TO                                                            SORRY ABOUT THE BAD TEXT, IMI STILL TRYING TO FIGURE OUT MY IPOD,
