I would have started by now, but as it stands I need to purchase a AnyDVD HD license in order to get it on my computer.  I can't afford that right now so I'm waiting for another software to work (I have the Blu-Ray, if it was the DVD I'd have no problems).

No, the DVD also has plenty of problems as it has a new disc copywrite-protection method that makes it impossible to rip it using most DVD ripping programs - you'd need to use the latest release of DVDFab (or download the latest beta) and follow these steps:
1. turned off Pathplayer in Settings
2. turned off Preview in Settings
3. restarted DVDFab
4. inserted TF2 disc
5. chose "Main Movie" chapter 47
6. clicked 'Start'.

I have skimmed through the first 25 minutes or so and made mental notes of what to cut and how difficult it would be to work with.  So far it seems like I can make significant changes without having to work too hard, so that's good.

That'd work if I was using the DVD.

Yeah, I just noticed that you said that you have the Blu-ray release.

It's quite frustrating.  AnyDVD has a fix, but it won't work with the trial version, you have to have the new version with a valid license to download an extra component, and it's a minimum of $75 for that.

Off-topic, but Kevinicus, I love your avatar. The new Challenger is a retro car done right! Makes the Charger look like more of a misshapen blob than it already is. (if you like the look of the new Charger, sorry, but that's just how I feel. Haha.) I see the Challengers on a regular basis. I've seen the orange, off-white and black ones. They make them a couple of hours south of where I live.

So anyway, I guess that's at least three Transformers 2 edits that are on the horizon, probably more. (and I know JasonN is only using small bits of 2 for his edit, innit?) Nice.

Yeah, I quite love it.  My wife took a pretty good picture didn't she?

I considered a Camaro for awhile until I saw the Challenger in person at a car show.  Since then the Camaro has been kind of blah, and only gotten worse since.  Thought BB from ROTF is much better from the front than what you can get at the dealerships.

Only downside is making the payments.

I finally got it on my computer last night and started on it tonight.  Spent about 30 minutes on it and got through the intro and the Shanghai battle.  Already cut 2.5 - 3 minutes.  The film starts much faster now without all of that useless voice over crap and primitive man bs.  It was slightly more complicated than I thought, but not too bad.

I'm interested in seeing what kind of cuts come out of TF2, because the opinions about it are a lot more unanimously negative than the first movie. Most people seem to like the first movie, and as such, the only fan cuts that I've really seen around for it have been from people who didn't really like it (probably because they're the only ones who feel strongly enough about it to actually make a fan cut). Most of the TF1 cuts I've seen around seem to have an active disliking of the movie's personality and seem to cut out as much of it as possible, a practice I don't particularly care for since I pretty much think the movie is fine as-is.

With Transformers 2 though, I'm interested to see what kinds of editors it attracts. There are a lot of people, myself included, who liked the first movie just fine but were very frustrated with the sequel. In addition to the types who would prefer the movie to have as little of Michael Bay's sense of humor and as little human drama as possible, I think we're going to see people making edits who just plain want it to feel more like the first movie, which is the kind of fan cut I'm hoping to see.

Don't forget those of us who were pretty disappointed in the first one (not as a Transformers fan, but a movie fan in general), and much preferred Revenge of the Fallen and felt it was a much better movie in almost every way.  That's where I fall in.  I edited the first one because I thought it was extremely flawed and had major pieces that served no purpose and couldn't offer simple entertainment (hacker/analyst as an example). The second movie on the other hand has far more in it that is actually entertaining, but still has quite a few of the elements that were pointless and counterproductive as the first movie did.  My goal isn't to gut the film, just remove some of the fat to improve the pacing (by far the biggest fault with the movies) and reduce some of the redundancy and cringe worthy moments.
