I must be one of the few people who actually like the chosen one thing (all be it not the way it was handled).

The vagaries of prophecy and the unexpected nature of what they actual mean is a classic mythic theme.

One of the EU aspects of the story I like too is the idea that the Sith too have a chosen one myth and that Anakin fulfills both prophecies (sort of like the antichrist turning out to be the messiah at a latter date).

It's also very Taoist, Anakin does his messianic act while a Sith Lord and his satanic act as a Jedi, very Yin/Yang.

Shame it never ended up in the film because it's a clever idea.

After recently watching Willow it's a shame in some ways because that film (for all it's faults) used a lot of the mythic themes that could have been in the PT and Val Kilmer back then would have made a really good Harrison Ford analogue (shame he disappeared up his own rear end later in his career).

It also felt more like a Star Wars film than the PT did most of the time.

Yep. me and a cohort on TF.net back in the day talked about the Jedi and Sith both searching for the chosen one. TPM would be like a hunt for the jedi and sith.

what does gnosis mean?
