Hehe that should do it.
Hehe that should do it.
After much consideration, I approve your use of my name and image in your forthcoming book.
We split the winnings, 50-50 I think.
I already have a magnificent idea of what to write. I just can't decide whether it will be before TPM or after. But I have had some ideas for a few weeks of what to do.
This is going to be a real classic Star Wars book. It will also have some funny moments too. But I will release it here before anything serious is ever done.
"The other versions will disappear. Even the 35 million tapes of Star Wars out there won’t last more than 30 or 40 years. A hundred years from now, the only version of the movie that anyone will remember will be the DVD version [of the Special Edition], and you’ll be able to project it on a 20’ by 40’ screen with perfect quality. I think it’s the director’s prerogative, not the studio’s to go back and reinvent a movie." - George Lucas

Hahahaha! I almost died of laughter :D
Tayyab
That was good. You almost expect a "so..." or a "yep", like in King of the Hill.
JasonN, I'm not sure I've seen the final version of that video before, but it looks very polished. Good work! I've yet to get hold of your complete edit. Anyone able to direct me?
I'm ok with Dooku having any lightsaber colour other than blue or red, so as to differentiate him from the dogmatic Jedi, but still not being evil.
Be it Purple, Green, yellow, orange, whatever. With Green, it could be a nice parallel with ROTJ or be too similar and thus might not give Luke enough ambiguity. I'm undecided on that.
I don't agree with Mace having any of those colours though. And as for Yoda, I'd prefer it if he wasn't seen with a Saber at all.

Y'know, I hadn't thought of it before, but though most people don't like Mace's purple lightsaber, it would kinda make sense for a "rogue Jedi." Part Jedi (blue saber) + Sith-like tendencies (red saber) = "rogue Jedi" (red + blue = purple)
:p
I liked JasonN's purple saber.... I mean, any change from red was a good one to me, I guess I just like the green saber more personally. Maybe I guess because Dooku really does remind me of Qui-Gon... He just acts a lot like him, and it actually made since that Qui-Gon was his Padawan... And perhaps Dooku reminds him of Qui-Gon as well, and having a saber like his old master could add salt to the wound.... But really, I just like the green saber..... Just like I like my green eggs and ham.
One thing to point out: a purple (JasonN) or yellow (MagnoliaFan) blade is much easier to pull off than a green one, because any remnants of red will stand out a lot more if you try to make it green, red being the opposite of green but a component of purple and yellow. Myself, I'd go for yellow, but that may simply be because I saw MF's edit first.
I also think it would be interesting to see a much greater range of colours for the Jedi, rather than uniform blue and green — have each sabre a slightly different shade of blue or green, maybe even ranging from purple at one end to yellow at the other. Of course, this would be very difficult and time-consuming for any editor. It depends on whether we want to paint the Jedi as individualistic and free (in which case the more variation the better), or dogmatic and ordered (in which case the less the better).

Yeah, green has been very, very hard to pull off... But very worth it. What saved me, is I was able to stray away from a linear dodge in after effects as that's how i usually do lightsabers...because it reacts to other light naturally... But since it was a dark room, I could pull off just a standard overlay. Of course when the sabers connected I had to redo the other saber in a linear dodge so it would look right again, but anyway... The lack of light in the scene was my saving grace in that sequence. If it had it been bright, it most likely would not have worked at all.
hey guys just thought i would badly do a comparison pic for maybe a vote for dooku's new light colour.
Still like green.... yellow and orange almost look evil/sith like to me.

Yeah those warmer colours definitely feel more Sith. I think blue, white, pale green and maybe other paler colours seem more Jedi-like.
I don't like purple at all, or at least the pinky-purple Mace Windu had. A darker, more true purple might be better, but I don't know.
im for blue....but i have my own agenda.;)
I still like red the best for Dooku.

I like red for Dooku if the edit is to keep him as a sith. If it's to establish him as an ambiguous maverick jedi gone native, then yeah, go with a unique colour.
Sith = red
Maverick jedi = yellow or purple.
but what if the maverick colors looks crappy?
It's quite possible to make them look as good as the original sabres.
Can anyone actually tell me why we're changing light sabre colours anyway?
jason n gave us a very good idea of seeing dooku in a new light as a rogue jedi trying to save the galaxy from the sith that he only knows rather than a sith

I was thinking the same thing.

What, and you can do all that by colouring someone's light sabre?
Wow.
And with clever editing. Seriously, check out JasonN's prequel edits - Dooku is changed from a throwaway villain to the only guy who actually knows what's going on and is willing to do something about it, but no one else believes him. It really makes him a tragic character - I think this change should be a requirement for any future prequel edit.
And yeah, the lightsaber color change helps this idea along quite a bit.
Could I dare to be obvious by making Grievous into what is left of Darth Maul thus padding his character into more of a threat?
I have thought about that to. I even made a forum about it on Star Wars Message Boards. I got nothing but hatred toward the idea. I think it would work, but it would be very hard to pull off without having new scenes shot.
check out JasonN's prequel edits
Where can I find that?
No offence, but the change of light sabre colour, for the vast majority of people, is completely pointless and conveys absolutely no new information.
