I need to get my eyes tested because I read Kim Newman for a minute (I didn't think he was much of a Star Wars fan).

If Ady could do so much from scratch imagine what he could do if the sky were the limit?
The sky's the limit now. It's time and money that's slowing Ady down.
My outlook on life - we’re all on the Hindenburg anyway…no point fighting over the window seat.
I think the sky would be more unlimited if Ady could get all the original elements to eliminate the transparency present everywhere.

Do we have an estimated delivery date more precise than “sometime in 2010”? Are we talking early 2010, mid 2010, or late 2010?
Say Adywan, do you have any friends/relatives who dabble in film making/editing; anyone who might be interesting in putting together some web-docs to tide people over and minimize the amount of release date questions? Just a thought.

I don't know what those are.

He's talking about the parts where you can see through some elements...like where you can sometimes see through the snow-speeders during the battle of Hoth, etc..

Remember that this is still on the inside... most skyscrapers are out in the open air, so ambient light is going to have a much bigger effect... not to mention that this tunnel would be full of gas vapors from the various gas mining facilities and carbonite waste production.
You know, wouldn't it be kinda sad that Luke dies not from Vader or the Emperor or whatnot, but lung cancer from the pollution he was breathing in during this sequence?
Right now in a dimly-lit study, someone in a flannel shirt just had a great idea for the next Star Wars trilogy.
You know of the rebellion against the Empire?
Naah, lung cancer is too realistic. More likely, he'll just lose the will to live.

Kyle Newman spoke about how much he liked ANH:R in an interview. He is also following me on Twitter and he has said that he is excited for ESB:R. I've also been contacted by the writer of Fanboys, Ernie Cline, who kindly sent me a copy of Fanboys along with a copy of the rough 2006 cut of the movie.
Do you think you could post a link to your twitter in your signature, Ady? It's not hard to find using Google, but I didn't even know you had one.

I only propose here to show some more scale elements as well. Rebels and the control room.

Good idea about the rebels and control room being in the shot, but the shiny cannon in your new mockup looks a little too "fake CGI" to me. Sorry Angel. :/
I support CG ;)
-Angel
Nice idea, especially the control room! :) I also don't like the shine, but whatever.
Yeah, it wouldn't be that shiny unless it was just installed yesterday. The rebels have been on Hoth for a few months at least.

Edit:
Shine removed

It wouldn't be that shiny if it weren't CG ;-)

I love the new scale elements and the control room....yes! But I have to ask, why did you replace the miniature of the cannon to begin with? Why not just take the shot and add those turrets and control room and be done with it? I don't see what's wrong with the old cannon.
The other thing is it shouldn't be that that shiny just from a hidden base standpoint.
I like the extra detail of the new one.

Sometimes extra detail makes things look less realistic, especially if you're trying to convince audiences they're looking at something large and set back in the frame with distance between the viewer and the object.

Plus an Ion Cannon (even a shiney one) would be dulled up by the harsh cold and the snow. The shiney one does look great and I would support seeing one in the space battle in ROTJ on one of the ships. But for Hoth I would say leave the Ion Cannon alone.
"The other versions will disappear. Even the 35 million tapes of Star Wars out there won’t last more than 30 or 40 years. A hundred years from now, the only version of the movie that anyone will remember will be the DVD version [of the Special Edition], and you’ll be able to project it on a 20’ by 40’ screen with perfect quality. I think it’s the director’s prerogative, not the studio’s to go back and reinvent a movie." - George Lucas

Yeah, I don't think the rebels get brand new equipment very often. Lol!

Ahh there you go again Angel m8, impressing us again hehe
I like it, the control room window is a nice add, since ppl actually look out it in the control room ( one can see that just before the ION cannon fires ) some ppl are running over and looking our somewhere on the right side.
oh and are those ppl I see on the right side there?

Adywan, have you considered the shot of the falcon taking off from the rebel base on Hoth?
I was watching that scene the other day and noticed that *before* takeoff the falcon is parked facing screen right...but once it takes off it apparently has turned 180 degrees (like it does from docking bay 94 in ANH) and started going towards screen left. Have you considered making or extending the shot of the falcon actually turning around (with your new falcon model)?
And on another note: just wondering if you've experimented with the new camera yet? Will any new footage you film match up with the original footage? Just wondering... :D
Talk at you guys later! Gotta go! :D
