clone wars season II

I will not be watching as i don't care for that Boba Fett clone Cad Bane with that bad accent, and i could give a shit less about bounty hunters, and they are making the entire premise of the second season about them, lame

I don't care about the clone troopers really either, stormtroopers have always been cannon fodder in the movies and non essential to the plot.  I do like the Jedi stuff, and i like Matt Lanters Anakin Character and his master student relationship with Ahsoka because it shows anakin as a more than 1 dimensional character we got in star wars episodes II and III.

I Liked the first season enough, i approved of maybe at least half of the episodes the other half were crap or mediocre.  I will be buying the dvd season 1 set.

Boba Fett would be still a child during this so he can't be in it, that is why they created a nonsensical character like Cad Bane who will probably meet his death at the end of a lightsaber blade, whether jedi or sith.

Can they just do away with the bad palpatine machinations already or at least downplay it, i mean they had him pulling the strings in all three prequel films and force unleashed.  It makes him into an unbelievable comic book level villain.

supossedly palpatine has cloned himself. that's EU though, and it depends if u like it or not.

but you should watch at least the first episode or two and see what its like. i liked season one also, mostly the clone trooper episodes. and the second episode with Yoda. season two looks a lot better though.

At the SW panel at SDCC, the cast and producers admitted that S1 was a little bumpy because they were trying to figure out where "the line" was between what Cartoon Network would allow and what was true to what has to happen among the characters to fit in continuity with the films and overall SW universe.  Now that they worked the bugs out of the system, S2 should be a lot better.

they should've aired it on fox instead of cartoon network. at least there would be no limitations. however, in one episode, i think it was called "rookie" with the clone troopers, the trooper does say damn.

No, on Fox it would be moved around, delayed and pre-empted because of football games, then Fox would cancel it complaining that it wasn't getting ratings.

Word.  They thought people no longer watched Futurama or King of the Hill.

I was referring to Firefly, but yeah, those shows too.

I for one applaud Fox's decision to cancel Firefly. Overrated show. Now if only somebody would cancel Dollhouse.

I didn't watch Firefly and I don't watch Dollhouse.  But why would you want a show cancelled that you don't like?  Just change the channel and let the people who do like the shows still have them.

Because I care about art and I don't want to see crap getting credit and being made when better stuff could be made or get the credit instead. And because Joss Whedon annoys the shit out of me.

Well instead of just shitting on everyone else, how about contributing to the conversation - what shows of theirs do you consider worth saving/reviving?  What kind of "art" has come out of the Fox TV network that you consider worthy?

Expressing my wish for certain shows to be cancelled is not shitting on everyone else. To suggest it is suggests overidentification with one's tv shows. You are not your tv show. If I shit on Firefly I am not shitting on you. One needs to put a certain distance between oneself and the things one likes or else it becomes impossible to hang around a place where there's free discussion (which includes criticism) without getting all worked up and hurt all the time (on account of things you like get criticised or dissed). And expressing such opinions as I expressed IS contributing to the conversation. The fact that it's not contributing what you want to hear doesn't mean it's not contributing. Let's not get into the mindset some sites have where anything that is critical of something is "not contributing" and only stuff involving praising stuff is considered contributing. I'm sorry if my opinion bothered you, but I do believe in expressing my opinions even if they're not to everybody's taste.

Are you a politician, or were you one in a former life?  Because you just went out of your way to say basically nothing except to try and guilt me into thinking highly of you.

FAIL.

Stop trying to force yourself to sound intelligent and answer my original question - what do you consider a "good" show that shouldn't have been cancelled?

Hardly a big deal, I think, and I'm a fan of Firefly.  I love Firefly.  Had I known it existed when it first aired, I would have watched it religiously and campaigned to save it when it was at death's door.  However, VINH is totally within his rights to have wanted it and want other shows to be cancelled.  It's his opinion, and it doesn't change what happens.  Hell, I wish American Idol and several other reality shows would be cancelled and never spoken of again even though many people I know like them.  Am I somehow spoiling their fun by wishing those shows' demise?  No.  Granted, in their case, they can laugh all the way to the TV since those shows are in no danger of being cancelled, but no matter how much VINH hates Firefly, I can always pop in my DVDs and marvel over how wonderful it is.  Whatever...

Not that that is going to stop you from dreaming… Only in this case, Gaffer is actually a guy.

Whoa! I am pretty sure we had this EXACT same conversation several months back, with both VINH and Gaffer saying basically the exact same things. Either that or I am going crazy.

Personally, I think the word "overrated" is vastly overrated. At the end of the day it really doesn't have a lot of meaning behind it. There are many things that I absolutely love that others couldn't care less about, and many things they care about I couldn't care less about. Likely in their opinions my crap is overrated, and in my opinion their crap is overrated.

Frink, let me just say that I would HIGHLY recommend you get your hands on Firefly's pilot and give it a watch (if you can't find easy access to the pilot, the second best starting point would be the film "Serenity" which should be available in the cheap section of any video rental place). If after you watch the pilot you feel like you wasted your time, you are more than free to blame me for the bad recommendation. But honestly, I think you will find it at least mildly entertaining, if not downright awesome. Worse case scenario: you'll really like it and go through that short bout of heartbreak the rest of us Firefly fans have all faced at the realization of what could have been but will never be.

Sigh, yeah... It was in May, Off-Topic, in the Star Trek film thread, I believe.  But then again, this whole day has been posting deja vu for me, as the ROTJ polarizing debate has sprung up again.  I'm sure all of us have weighed in on the issue about fifty times by now and know each other's positions by heart by now.

Well, I have a netflix queue a million titles long, not to mention a long list of fanedits to get to.  But I've added the series and the Serenity movie to my netflix queue.  I know it's something completely different, but I really did enjoy Dr. Horrible...thanks for the recommendation.

Glad to hear you added it to your Netflix queue, I don't think you'll be sorry. It is definitely worth checking out... might even be worth knocking somewhere toward the top of that million title queue...

Actually, I had zero interest in it myself before I finally got around to watching it. Several of my friends swore it was one of the best shows they had ever seen, but I just figured that was the Buffy/Joss Wedon fan in them speaking (and I never cared much for Buffy or any of Joss' other work myself). Finally I sat down to watch it the first time, made it to the opening title, got bored, and turned it off deciding it wasn't for me. There is a flashback in the pre-title sequence of the pilot, which gives some important background on the characters, but is also considerably less exciting than the rest of the show. Unfortunately, I figured the whole show would be pretty much like this and decided to give it a pass (I had also already made up my mind to some extent that I wasn't going to like the show, the premise of cowboys in space sounded lame, plus it was from the guy who made Buffy, I was pretty certain it wasn't my cup of tea before I ever took that first sip).

About a year or so later the wife was away for the weekend and I was bored enough to let one of my friends talk me into giving it another chance. I figured I suffer through one episode with him, then find something else to do... long story short, I borrowed the discs from him and had finished all episodes and the movie by the time my wife came home. After a week or so of trying to convince my wife that the show about cowboys in space really was cool, and that she'd like it, she too finally gave in and a few days after that had watched all episodes and the movie a second time with her. I actually think she enjoyed them more than I did.

WHY WERE YOU TYPING IN ALL CAPS?  :P

TO GET BACK ON TOPIC...

SEASON TWO DOES LOOK GREAT, HOWEVER YOU CAN MAKE ANYTHING LOOK GOOD WITH A PROPERLY EDITED TRAILER.  THE PURPOSE FOR TRAILERS IS TO SHOW SOME IF NOT ALL OF THE BEST MOMENTS IN ORDER TO INTICE PEOPLE INTO WATCHING YOUR FILM/SHOW.  STILL, I REALLY DO BELIEVE THAT THIS COULD BE A GREAT SEASON.
