Is this an original Troops DVD or a DVDR?

Could anyone who owns the original DVD with "Troops", that came with a mag called "Total Movie" in 2000, look at this auction and say if this is a real DVD from, perhaps, some Asian edition of the mag, or just a DVDR copy of the actual DVD? (The seller wouldn't tell...)

I have the TOTTAL MOVIE DVD. It came in a small sleeve, and had a picture promoting the trailers on the the DVD. Bedazzled and The Exorcist. There was alot more than just Troops on the disc. That looks like a bootleg to me. If anyone is interested, I can see if I can make copies of mine.

It's an asian bootleg, but not a DVD-r. Most bootlegs are actual pressed DVDs (but cheap thin material) and the cover art is free all over the net.

So, you've seen this bootleg then? Is it an exact copy of the Total Movie disc, or something with crappier quality (recompressed, skipping, with permanent Chinese subtitles like that infamout OT boot, etc.)? I wanted Troops on that DVD, and if that's the only way to go, then I guess I will bid on another copy of this (though I'm hesitant, considering that the seller ignored me when I asked him a question).

Hmm... I suppose only the seller can bring light into this issue. Perhaps you could ask the guys who made the fanfilm if there's an official way to buy their film in dvd quality.

I think the name of the director is Kevin Rubio. Try to google up some contact adress or something. Just an idea.

Well, that Total Movie disc was the only official DVD release (and even that had to be reedited to avoid copyright infringement)... and even if I found Kevin Rubio and if he answered me, I strongly doubt he'd be interested in selling one measly copy (well, maybe I'd buy a second one for my nephew, but no more than that )

I'm looking into backing up some of my stuff that may be lost to time, so I'll see if I can help you if you really want.

Fanfilmmakers are not allowed to sell their movies, or else GL will eat them. Thats why fanfilms are allowed to exist, because there is no distrubution or money changing hands.

If ther was then LFL would shut down fanfilming.

Sof r the TROOPS dvd your best bet is to find the total movie dvd, or someone who has it and copy it.

I seem to remember them selling copies of George Lucas in Love on Amazon, though. So what's up?

That one might be different because it is not technically a SW movie, but a movie about GL. Its tough to say for certain how these crazy intellectual property laws work.

Yeah, no kidding. I guess it's not technically a SW film, but it contained all kinds of SW refs including actors/actresses dressed up as SW characters (albeit a bit modernized).

Plus, George Lucas in Love is protected by the fair use provisions contained in s. 106 of the US Copyright Act, because it's a parody.

Princess Leia: I happen to like nice men.
Han Solo: I'm a nice man.

Yeah. There have to be guidelines or restrictions that say what constitutes a fair use parody and what is a parody using copyrighted material to a level where they need permission.

GEORGE LUCAS IN LOVE WAS EVEN VIEWED BY LUCAS HIMSELF. HE WAS SO IMPRESSED BY IT THAT HE HIRED THE TWO GUYS WHO MADE IT.

BTW, I HAVE THE TROOPS DVD THAT CAME WITH TOTAL MOVIE DVD. IF ANYBODY REALLY WANTS SEND ME A PM.

I would seriously love a copy of your Total Movie disc. I am going to burn my LD's to DVD, and want to make a supplement disc including the info from the Definitive Collection, and some Star Wars-related stuff, like "Troops" and the beginning of "Chasing Amy". Please contact me!

That bit from Chasing Amy with the whole SW debate with Hooper was great. Best damn scene in the movie. Along with "I'll trace a chalk outline around your dead fuckin' body!" and the battle wound comparison scene with Banky and Alyssa.
