I'm surprised you didn't mention having A-Wing Pilot Edward James Olmos in your list ;-)
If Ralph Brown can go into battle why not Husker?

Fixed matte lines around the rebels and many trees. Enhanced the smoke element so its not look like fake. Added depth so the AT-STs have no blacks as well. ( not sure if are visible in the resize version)

wow, vaderios that looks superb! the light coming from the trees adds to it aswell! i like the subtle tint you add to the endor shots, hopefully it will help define the time of day etc.

I wanted to bring this back to the front due to the excellent commissioned work here by Davnes. Not only did he cut Fett like I suggested, he also did some of the other tweaks we've mentioned on the list, and I think its the better for it. I think things are tighter (a bit too tight in places, but could be fixed) and flow pretty nicely. With some more work, I think it could be done and no one would know until after its over!
MORE THOUGHTS: still don't like Oola in the pit. Slows things down. And why does Sy look the wrong direction for the "uh oh"? The crops could work with a 1080p source, but masking would work wonders.
Agreed 100%. This totally proves to me, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that there is absolutely no reason for Boba Fett to be in the film. Great work, Davnes!
And yeah, I hate the Oolah-in-the-pit scene, too ...
Oola needs to go.
Love the new endor shots, Angel! Have you looked into fixing some of the Rancor shots yet? ;)

With how many movies can you delete an entire character who is on the (SE) poster without affecting the movie at all?

You know, I think that the Rancor is some of the best work of the DVD. Seriously, why couldn't they have done all that work with rest of the movie, getting rid of matte lines and recoloring bad blue screens? I'd love to see if Angel can tweak it further, but I'm happy the way it is, honestly.

eh...I don't know...I mean it works well the way they did it. But I think it can be enhanced further. Ady might be able to add a few facial movements...I personally think he could move a bit faster...it would be fun to maybe add some drool hanging from his mouth...maybe you could have more interaction with the Rancor and the set...like having him bump up against the side of a wall and a puff of dust comes off....and there are still some matte lines to remove...and surely something can be enhanced when the Rancor picks up Luke...there are some shots there that are terrible...some of those blue screens shots....-is it the black levels that are off? Anyway... something like that... :)

Davnes, we missed a shot. Fett is right here, but I'm sure he can be elminated:
Also, is that a stuffed and mounted Taun Taun to the right of frame? OMG, there it is again to frame left of Han! (brightened for clarity)
Watch a movie a thousand times, and you still don't notice everything.

i hate to admit it, but it is quite unhealthy the amount of time we lord over these films.:P but when you think about it, a mere second that is corrected, when multiplied by the amount of times it is watched certainly makes it more than a worthwhile endevour.

No idea how i can fix them... :|
Some more dramatic lightning and smoke?
For now No idea...

Cute as the Tauntaun trophy is it does represent so much of what is wrong about ROTJ, sticking stuff in because they have paid for it already makes sense in terms of saving money but if Hoth was meant to be the middle of nowhere how the hell did that head get there.
It makes the Star Wars universe a much smaller place and kind of takes you out of the moment and yes I did notice it when I was 13 because I had been inspecting every publicity photograph I could get my hands on for months before the film came out.
The same with bloody medical droids in the briefing room.
Boba Fett appearing in some capacity in the film pales in terms of how those little things grate for me (and they are easier to remove too).
It looks like a joke photoshop job (like sticking an Alien skull in Predator 2).
As for the Rancor and I'm probably talking out of my....erm....chair here but would it be possible to remove all the minature elements from the live action and double the frame amount by inbetweening slight changes between duplicate frames and then speeding the footage up to give the footage more life and then recombining it?
The shots with the giant hand and the model together still lack a certain weight and depth though the DVD did go a long way to improving things.

Gosh darn it!
He's only seen for about 2 seconds!!
I guess I missed him because he was hiding behind that guy (that's beside him).

I was never really sure that the taun tauns were native to Hoth at all. I had always assumed the taun tauns were cold climate animals from another planet that found even Hoth to be too cold if they were out in the snow for too long (hence one dying from the lower-than-they-are-used-to temperatures). They seemed like animals easily tamed and mountable, brought to Hoth after the Rebellion chose the planet as their next hidden base, and not some random animal that just so happened to be conveniently mountable upon the Rebel's arrival.
But, this is just my assumption, and there is nothing to say it is canon or not.

Fair enough but of all the animals in all the galaxy it seemed a bit convenient that Jabba collected a head Lucas had already made for the previous film.
Maybe it was some clever visual metaphor, Han being frozen in the last film being flanked by two creatures from the ice planet from the last film.
Nice job there Angel at making the Rancor more scary, those claws look a lot sharper in that light.

Wow Angel Rancor has gone Zilla only really good!
Give me a kiss :O
-Angel
It might be nice to keep the cat's eye effect to certain light conditions and have a darker iris.
Well be my guest :)
The cat eye effect is good because it keeps it unnatural.
-Angel
OMG that new rancor is so scary!

I like unnatural... that was why I attempted those Taun Taun eye mock-ups a while back. Though I don't really have a problem with the Rancor eyes as they are, but having an effect change with the light wouldn't be too bad of an idea.
