Yes and in ROTJ on Ackbar's ship (though mysteriously hanging from ceiling where only Watto and Mr Tickle could get to them).

Ok. I just noticed a few things in Empire that I wanted to ask about. Sorry if these were mentioned before (and I'm pretty sure that some of them were).

When Leia tells the pilots about the evacuation, one of them is holding the X-wings laser (?). Then he let's go the prop moves. I think that a space ship/star fighter would be more solid. Hopefully this screen will clarify what I'm talking about.

Ady, will you be making any changes to the glass screens in echo base? They don't seem to be very helpful and yet the woman somehow knows when to launch the first transport (I think someone mentioned this but I can't find it so...)

Also will you change the panel on the Executor?

Finally, and don't get me wrong here because I don't want to start a whole thing about the snow battle but will you be replacing this shot (I'm almost sure someone asked about this ;/)?Thx.

Good findings Zak. I forgot about the X-wing laser prop jiggling, but it had always bothered me. Any small upgrade to the glass displays would be welcome. Weren't there similar glass panels at Base 1 during the Death Star attack in ANH:R?

I was begging to think that I'm the only one who noticed the X-wing thing. Now every time I watch that scene I just can't stop looking at that thing!!!

So, what exactly is Ady working on now? Wampa puppet?

That is a big project in it's self. I could only imagine how much work could go into applying each hair. Hopefully there isn't too much involved in that. Where did Ady get a wampa did he make one himself or is there a place you can get secondhand wampas. Maybe Ady should go into the mountains of east and find an abominable snowman to film LOL.

"The other versions will disappear. Even the 35 million tapes of Star Wars out there won’t last more than 30 or 40 years. A hundred years from now, the only version of the movie that anyone will remember will be the DVD version [of the Special Edition], and you’ll be able to project it on a 20’ by 40’ screen with perfect quality. I think it’s the director’s prerogative, not the studio’s to go back and reinvent a movie." - George Lucas

I quite like the idea of the Wampa going on all fours but raising to full height for attack like some bears it gives more variety to it's look (like the Alien):

Wouldn't be surprised if I'm in the minority about being bothered by this (I usually am with my ESB Falcon engine issues), but in this particular SE shot of the Falcon flying through Cloud City, I strongly feel that the engine glow is extended too far out.

In just about every other shot of the Falcon from a side view in the OT, the glow never extends this far out at all (including the launch from Hoth when Luke is walking in the foreground.)

The only time the glow should extend like this is in scenes where the Falcon is blasting off (like the Docking Bay 94 sequence in ANH or when the Falcon turns around to face the Star Destroyer in ESB), but in this Cloud City shot, it is very clear that the Falcon is just coasting along at a cruising speed, so the glow seems to be overdone in my opinion. It looks worse to me in motion, but I didn't feel it necessary to post a video with no mock-ups done to it.

Just a thought.

There's one thing I'm not sure has been brought up before.

When Lando tells Lobot to put the Stormies in the security tower Lobot's lips move as if he is saying something but no sound comes out.

I quite like the idea of Lobot not speaking at all so it might be an idea to stablilise his lips so he doesn't make lip movements but if the footage isn't to be altered perhaps putting something in there might make it sit better.

If I remember correctly, in the French dub (which I could only watch at the time when I didn't have the DVD's) Lobot actually replies something to Lando, like "À vos ordres" ("As you wish"). Maybe he did say something in some other mix which didn't make the final DVD?

Ist the same as leia that whispering "sweetheart" after han leaves from the cockpit?

Here is a pic that I found on a site. (Hot-linked.. but I'm lazy):

blatantly horribly hot-linked

Back to Echo Base:

Echo base

If I were Adywan (with his skills and equipment), I would add tiny red dots moving on the white lines. Let the red dots represent enemy ships and let the white lines represent the various ships' orbits and trajectories.

The concentric circles would be the blockade orbiting Hoth, with the Star Destroyers evenly distributed on them.

The curve arching out from the middle could be the transport's course. Add a green dot that slowly moves up the line from the center to the circle.

When the Star Destroyer's red dot meets the transport's course, then it is time to lower the shield and fire the Ion Cannon.

Perhaps the shield could also be represented somehow on the panel.

Sorry about the quality (actually no, sorry thats its from the PT), but how about adding a little bit of humour to the screens?

Im liking the idea of the wampa using 4 legs to travel around there Bingo (to give it a polar/grizzley bear economy of motion when traveling over a distance sort of thong). But the idea would need to be CGI'd, if it were even possible to use in the movie at all (like stick it where?). The only place i can think of to use the idea would be to recreate the deleted scene where the wampa drags the unconscious Luke back to its lair after the attack.

BTW Ady, after seeing your user title i have to say, i have a mate who works for the RAC and hes the same!

One item I haven't seen mentioned as a fix:

When Han first peeks over the snowbank while tracking the Probot, the debris from the Probot's demise is already there. Obviously this little gaffe was created in the editing room, but perhaps Ady can fix it.

Also, while watching Empire with my wife this a.m., she noticed that during the AT-AT battle, Luke calls Wedge both Rogue 2 and Rogue 3. (This is in the lead up to the harpoon scene).

...and back into lurking I go.

It would be nice to keep the same etched plastic colour scheme but just animate it a bit like in Dave's mockup.

I was thinking, should just the main board / screen have lights and dots on it or should more have it as well?  like around on the right and in the back.

They must all be watching and controlling stuff I guess..but what? o.0

1 - What are the men on the right doing? Seems liek they are running over to watch the ION cannon down and out a window perhaps?

2 - and what about them in the back there? seems like they are all hanging over the shoulder of the one in the middle with the stop clock...and he points ! :D

Nice sample Dawn007

As Ganamae said, Adywan IS intending adding something or other to these 'screens'.  I'll take what I get, but I'm hoping that it will be a VERY subtle enhancement, just enough to catch your eye in these 2 particular shots.

There are two shots close to each other of the scene shown above -  one at the point when the Rebel General says "Their primary target will be the power generators.  Prepare  to open shield", and the second where the Operator orders "Stand by, ion control.  Fire!"  On top of this, these Control Room 'screens' are also seen a few other times in different scenes.  The thing is, in a couple of these other shots, you can can see that there ARE small red flashing dots on them at certain points.  (Not to be confused with the red lights on the gizmo that is seen when the WHITE 'threepio'-like droid and when a male Operator are scanning the 'screens' in different shots).  There also seems to be the odd BLUE segment inside the swirling patterns when you study the shots.  (Indicating 'sectors' of activity?)

Just a subtle hint of the odd small RED or WHITE 'blip' (or BLUE one for the Ion Cannon 'powering up' even?) added to the 2 shots in the scene shown above would be nice addition, perhaps being seen to tie-in with the wording that the General and the Operator say during them?

Well this is my mock-up - and it looks terrible. I did it all on GIMP 2.6, but the ships on the screen look like they were done on paint - so sorry about the crappiness of it.

one tiny anal thing i noticed. look closely at the wall next to han as he shoots at vader. you will notice a dark mark appears on the wall. im guessing that vader is supposed to deflect a blast off into it. i always assumed he absorbed the laser bolts, which does he do? if he is supposed to deflect the laser bolts then perhaps it should be illustrated better. if not, then the mark and flash against the wall could be erased?
