But I agree Mara Jade was badass. There aren't enough badass women in star wars. I've liked mara jade ever since playing the Jedi Knight Dark Forces 2 expansion pack Mysteries Of The Sith. It was fun playing that game.

Exactly. After reading Heir to the Empire I wanted to know more. I liked the fact that she wasn't so high and mighty like Leia is in the EU.

Cool! ROTJ used to be my favorite. Nowadays, I like them all (the OOT) about equal. They all have their strong points.

My favorite part of Star wars is the OOT. I don't understand people who have something else as their favorite part of Star Wars instead of the OOT. The OOT is what it's all about.

I also like the old Marvel comics. Way more Star Wars in spirit than the Dark Horse comics. It's not all rabbits.

Favorite character: Han and Leia. The actors do such a great job with those two.

Favorite EU character: Qui Gon (since the PT is EU) and Shira Brie.

Sadly, most EU is farfetched and over-the-top. I really stopped caring after Salvatore wrecked everything with the utter stupidity that is NJO...

If you think he wrecked the EU, you don't want to see what he did in the Forgotten Realms. Vomit. Drizzt DoUrden, a character who makes Annie Skywalker and Jar Jar look good. But in all fairness, the NJO was planned by people other than him. He just carried out their dirty work, offing Chewie for them and starting the ball rolling.

Jango isn't a Star Wars character. He's only in the prequels and they're not Star Wars.

Star Wars is the original versions of the original trilogy films. Lucas rejected those (and thus broke with Star Wars) in the mid-90s when he made the Special Editions to be the definitive versions of the films replacing the originals. Since then he's been making stuff that has a wildly different mentality from Star Wars and is out of continuity with Star Wars, seeing as it's in-continuity with his invalid 1997 and 2004 special editions. All his newer stuff (1999 onwards) not only has a mentality and story at odds with Star Wars, it is also founded on his mid 90s break with Star Wars when he rejected the real Star Wars. By rejecting Star wars he ensured that by very definition all his later work was not Star Wars. There hasn't been any new Star Wars films since 1983.

Hence there is only one Fett. His name is Boba and he has nothing to with Temuera Morrison or Daniel Logan. He is also voiced by Jason Wingreen. He was never a little twerp kid and his father never claimed to be a simple man trying to make his way in the universe.

Jango Fett pisses me off. As do the prequels. And the myth that they're Star Wars, which I think is important to counter. So I apologize if I was harsh, but I stand by the view I expressed. It wasn't my intent to be unpleasant to anybody, just to say some stuff that needs saying.

Again, sorry to guywhoisanonymous if I was too hard on you.

And now I've an idea for another thread, so I'll go off and start it.

Yes, obviously.  You'll find me bitching about the prequels/SEs as well.  I'm sure a large portion of my nearly 6,000 posts have something to do with that.  However, we don't automatically shun those who have differing opinions.  That's what makes us different from places like theforce.net.  Sure, if someone's being an asshole about it, sure, take 'em to town.  But just because someone likes an element of something you loathe is no reason to chew that person's head off or make them feel unwelcome.

YOU'RE BEGINNING TO SOUND LIKE A SEPARATIST!

I'm shunning you, Gaffer for your obviously pro-PT and therefore anti-OT ways.

I may have been a bit harsh, but I hardly chewed his head off. If you look at my post, all of it is opinion about Star Wars. There's no personal abuse or judgement made of the poster I was replying to. And surely I am entitled to post personal opinion about Star Wars?

As for making him feel unwelcome, only the poster I was replying to can know whether it made him feel unwelcome, but it shouldn't have, because there was very obviously nothing personal about it. If posters are going to feel unwelcome every time you express dislike for a character they like or express a differeing view of Star wars then they'll be going around feeling unwelcome all the time. Personally I think posters should save feeling unwelcome for when they're given real reason to feel that way, such as when things get personal. Like right now, when I'm getting hit by this wave of disapproval about my posting (as if expressing my opinion makes me Mr Bad Guy). That certainly makes me feel unwelcome.

Which is why I said it's a fairly rare occurrence.

Due to his usually calm friendly demeanour, I was surprised by his reaction, most notably surprised that he felt the need to hit me over the head about my post AFTER I'd already apologized for it (see his response to xhonzi for what I'm talking about). His original objection to my post I could understand, because I was a bit tactless in my original post, but the later dig at me about supposedly chewing the poster's head off and making him feel unwelcome struck me as going too far and quite unnecessary. The question should have been asked who was making who feel unwelcome now?

Vinh, I think you are reading too much into Gaffer's post. He is the last guy to beat anyone over the head about anything. I am not sure how rare of an occasion it is for the Gaff to get pissed off, but neither of his two posts on this particular subject struck me as him being pissed off.  In the offending post, post number 34 of this thread, he was merely giving a statement about what makes us different from all those other obsessive SW related sites out there (in response to Xhonzi's "it is originaltrilogy.com after all ;) comment). There is no cause for defensiveness or hard feelings here.

Group hug!

Whew, wow, did this get out of hand.  But apparently C3PX explained everything I was about to say before I managed to.  I was never pissed off or even slightly miffed.  It was just a reminder to be careful.  I didn't even think any lines had been crossed when I replied to VINH.  And, of course, my second response to xhonzi, not VINH, so I wasn't hammering the point back in to him, I was just elaborating.

And, yes, I knew you were joking xhonzi, and I laughed heartily at that.

Phew.  What I get for trying to be nice around here.  =P
