Shot 1: Has a red tint in the high levels

Shot 2: looks very washed out. No colouring in the face and mouth and the contrast levels seem way off

Shot 3: Doesn't look too bad but the reds are washed out and there does look to be some issues with the levels

Shot 4: has a green tint to it

Shot 5: Again has a red/ pink tint in the high level areas and looks too desaturated

Shot 6: Looks ok, maybe boost the saturation levels very slightly

Shot 7: looks pretty good :)

Shot 8: Gamma levels way to high. Dark areas are just a wash with noise

Shot 9: Not too bad but a little too washed out again and contrast levels need tweaking

Shot 9: Again has a pink tint and the blues are a little too shifted towards cyan

Shot 10: Too much blue has been removed. It's too monochromatic with a slight green shift.

Shot 11: Looks almost sepia, but i know just how bad some of these cockpit shots are with the colouring to begin with

What method are you using for the colour correction?  One thing i found out about these movies is just how much the colour pallet changes from shot to shot. For instance just looks at the shot of 3PO in the command centre as it gets hit and the thing explodes behind him. The whole shot is green. Whoever did the colouring on the official transfers really must be colour blind. lol

To be honost and please do not take this the wrong way Ady,I expected you not to like any of it,which is fine,I will not do scene by scene like you do,to damn much work,it is very nice that you have the patience and time to dedicate to all this stuff but I do not, when it starts feeling like a job and not a hobby I am done with it,I no longer enjoy it,so with all the scenes differing in degrees of good and bad,I believe I might just not mess with it and leave it alone, flaws and all.

all I really wanted to do is take the blue tint out,but then it grew into more, and now it looks like it HAS to be a scene by scene or none at all.

plus there were some scenes that looked really, really bad,I did not post screens of them, but definitely NOT what I would want on my BD25.

@DVD-BOY do you have some screens of your color correcting?

Yep this screen(source)does look better.

But truth be told,I still like Ady's Wampa better,I wish I had a good pic of that for a new avatar.

To be honest, like you, I didn't want to spend a huge amount of time doing a colour correction on these - sum of all the parts and whatnot.

My only suggestion would be to upload 640x360 resolution AVIs with ShowFrameNumber() turned on, so that if anyone wants to take a stab at doing a scene by scene correction, there is a reference of what they have worked to.

I think you should go with the color corrected versions DJ, if you use it with light settings.

Your first pics were too much but the last was pretty good with more neutral colors.

Go light with the corrections, or else let it be. That's my two cents

I am going to let it be,because like I said above, there were still some scenes which I did not post screens to which looked really really bad,so I am going to leave them alone,I am synching the DVD audio right now and going to encode tonight, the lossless avi is finished,so I should be able to burn ESB to test tomorrow sometime.

OK I am testing ESB right now,it has NO color correcting,I left it as is,and it has DD 5.1,DD 2.0 and DD 2.0 commentary from the DVD,also the chapter stops are same as the DVD,it weigh's in at 21.3 GB's,no menu(don't know how)so far it looks and sounds good.

I used Sonic CineVision for the encoding at 22mb's avg.

Does anyone know what software you use to erase\format these BD-RE's?

Just came across this forum. I have read through most of the different versions available. I currently own the CCs versions which were pretty good.

But now in the advent of HD, would like to see these on blu ray without any compression from the above mentioned german hdtv broadcast.

Maybe another idea is to have an optional PCM track on the blu ray. I found the 2 channel DD track derived  from a PCM track from what i recall on CCs version to be superior. This was more notable on ROTJ.

I am after a version which will have no compression artifacts, best picture and sound possible. I also like the color correction that has been done, i did not really notice the DVDs having a blue tinge and just accepted it, but the screenshots i have been seeing give it a more film like look.

How can i obtain this if it is available?

DVD-BOY how far are you on your projects? are you doing the prequel Trilogy first? I have just finished and tested(burn to BD25 and watch) ANH SE,so now I have 2 down ANH and ESB,putting together Jedi now.

also what encoder are you using?

My project has kind os stalled at present - work / life has been rather busy, and the last time I looked I was having issues with sync on TPM, which has blunted my enthusiasm.  Hopefully I will get a chance to take a look at things on Sunday.

Still probably going with Cinevision as it's what I know - just don't have the time to play about with x264.

I'm sorry to hear that this project has stalled but I do hope that you're able to overcome the issues that you've encountered and get back on track soon as it's been looking very promising.

Incidentally, were you aware that Wookie Groomer has requested assistance in obtaining the Sky caps of TPM and AOTC over on his blu-ray thread?  I asume that you have these to facilitate your project so thought you might be able to help Wookie Groomer out?

Yeah please, if you or anyone could help get the sky caps to Wookie Groomer you'd be helping out everyone.

DVD-BOY,oops I mean BLU-BOY,where are you at now on your projects? I just finished up Jedi so I have the OT on BD25's,going to start Sith now,I am going to go backwards on the PT,first though I think I will burn Wookie Groomers BD25 versions and see if I really want to even waste my time doing these,I know his BD50 versions look pretty good, but not much of a difference at all from my BD25 versions, and a lot cheaper to burn.

I do have to Thank WG on the isolated ac3 score though,I stole it for an extra track on my ROTJ,I used the official DVD for all my audio,I used the DD 5.1 and 2.0 and commentary for all 3.

So Thanks WG for the isolated score,I did not like the PCM version,I liked the ac3 version better.

1 more thing,I did actually try using BD Rebuilder on WG's BD50 versions and the results were very shitty,I will not use that software again until it is out of its beta stage,my CineVision encodes look waaaay better.

I'm still playing around with Episode I, social life and work still getting in the way!!

Finally fixed the issues with Episode I (I think...)  I originally used TS-Remuxer to demux all of the streams from the German HDTV broadcasts, but for some reason they didn't flag any delay details in the filenames.  When I got DGAVCIndex to parse the TS file and demux the audio I could see the delay on the TS Streams so I knew what I need to do to that audio so that I could sync the DVD audio with my encode (Don't worry, I know what I mean :))

The other issue was, at least with Episode I, the German HDTV broadcast seemed to crop a couple of seconds off the beginning of the film, when compared to the DVD - you didn't get the entire Fox fanfare - so that was fun!

I'm glad WG has almost got the entire SAGA released, so people can pick that up for their Star Wars HD fix - I would hate for people to be waiting on my release as it's a long way off - the fun part isn't the destination, it's the journey ;)

I'll report back when I have more news.

Optical Disc Boy ;)
