By the way, the new TIE reveal is still there, it's just not as long, and doesn't pan around after they fly past the camera.

Either one works. I just need the first part of the Obi-Wan/Vader duel, from "I've been waiting for you, Obi-Wan" until Han says "Didn't we just leave this party?" I really only need the audio, but having the video as well will help me sync it much better (Avid is a bitch when it comes to audio).

Nice. I'd still like to know what software one would use to cut out/isolate a chunk of the movie like that.
On a Mac, I just use MacTheRipper, which lets you select a specific chapter you want to rip. There are other ways, of course, but that's the best way to do it without re-encoding to my knowledge.
Small update:
The Purist audio worked out wonderfully - it actually blended in much more smoothly and easily than any other Revisited-to-mono-mix blending I've had to deal with on this whole project. I'm very, very happy with it now.
DJ's GOUT video in the "dead end" sequence (replacing the random-ass hangar of the SE) works quite well as well, and with no color correction.
Now the tricky stuff - I've tried adding in the one Mos Eisley shot that was cut from the SE in place of the super-wide SE shot that included two rontos, but the GOUT quality - even DJ's cleaned up GOUT - is just too much of a drop, so I think the SE shot is staying (unfortunately).
I've also used DJ's GOUT to replace the alley search SE shot with the stupid floating droid. This works better, but I'm still having trouble with the color correction - I'm nowhere near as good at that as Adywan is, despite Avid's very powerful color correction tools.
Other than that, there's nothing much to report. I'm going to get to work on restoring the pre-SE version of the desert search ("Look, sir - droids!") next, but I imagine it's going to be quite difficult and labor-intensive to accomplish. Fun stuff.

This may be considered sacrilege but could you consider adding a slight pause between "Look Sir!" and "Droids"?
The way the line has always been delivered cracks me up because I keep expecting Sarge to cock his gun and shout "Where?".
A slight pause might put the emphasis on the plating ring and the stormy then explains it's from a droid.
I wish Ady in ANH:R had used the line from the Radio version where the trooper says "It's a plating ring from a droid Sir" in a slightly less alarmed voice.
I understand that this version is trying to be more like the Star Wars we are all familiar with and I'd understand if you wanted to keep this classic line in all it's wacky glory but I thought I'd throw this in just incase it's something that might appeal to you.
If it doesn't I'll pop the idea onto the After Ady thread.
He does say the line quickly, but to be fair, he is holding up the ring right in front of his commander's face, innit? I do like your suggestions (and adding the odd radio drama line here and there is cool) but I'm fine with it either way. Not that that matters. Haha.
CA, how do you feel about the insertion of radio drama lines?
I'll look into it. It might actually help deal with the missing 40 frames or so (don't remember the exact number) - I could move the "Someone was in the pod ... " line earlier, and make a little room for the radio drama line. No promises on this, though - but I will look into it. (I knew there was a reason I downloaded the radio dramas ... )
By the way, does anyone know in which episode of the radio drama this line occurs in? It'd make finding it a bit easier.
I just scanned it and it happens at around 4:24 into Part 4.
I don't know if it would be useable, though. The voice doesn't even sound like the modulators used in the movie and there's a lot of ambient noise. Sounds more like they're in a ship than outside. If they're outside, then the wind only has one contant tone. :p
It's been a while since this thread was posted in, but I'd just like to say, ChainsawAsh, I can see this becoming my definitive version of the OT, it sounds good, and what you've done so far is good. Will you be using the deleted Jabba scene that comes after the Greedo scene?
No, the Jabba scene will NOT be in this edit. It's redundant unless I re-edit the Greedo scene with the original script dialogue (not impossible, but I won't be doing it), and the CG Jabba, in either form, is far too bad.
I'd also like to let everyone know that I haven't abandoned this project, it's still going on - I've just been trying to work out a few particularly troublesome details. I know I mentioned an August release date, but since tomorrow's the last day of August, this won't be possible.
At this point (I hate to do this), I'm gonna have to go with an Adywan-style release schedule: probably before the end of 2009, but it'll be done when it's done. I'm not going to release something that's 99% perfect, but 1% of it is sub-par and takes me out of it when I see it.
I'm also going back to school on Saturday, which sounds like it means I'll have less time to work on this, but I only have class 3 days a week, and no job (for most of the semester, anyway). But the good part of it is that I go to film school, and many of my friends there are Star Wars nuts just as much as anyone else here - I'm sure I can find a couple people to help out with some of the problems I'm having. And one person I know has very good mixing headphones, which will be invaluable in mixing the audio changes (specifically in the Battle of Yavin) compared to doing so on MacBook Pro speakers.
Don't worry folks, this project will be released - just not as soon as I'd hoped.
It's cool ChainsawAsh, I'm looking forward to this project too, and I agree I'd rather see it 100% finished instead of seeing it at 99% and waiting for a furture release or something where everything's fixed. Glad to hear this is still going.

Chainsaw I have grown very very interested in this project after weeks of trying to come up with ideas to make the prequels work. Hell I can't come up with a way to make vader's identity hidden until ESB. So I can't wait to see your fuck the prequels editions.

The prequels would take some miracle to ever be as good as the OT. I was happier when it was just the original pre 97 trilogy. I wore out my VHS tapes. From Star Wars to Jedi won't even play any more LOL.
