From what I read, Seagate STARTED doing it for free...and then stopped. They probably realized what a HUGE problem it was and said "no more." I couldn't even get a live person on the phone when I tried calling last week. I didn't want to wait longer and risk the data no longer being there.

Thanks for the info. I dunno what I can do now. i suppose email them and tell them of my situation? They're not going to reimburse me, I'm sure.
