STAR WARS: EP V "REVISITED EDITION"ADYWAN - 12GB 1080p MP4 VERSION AVAILABLE NOW — Page 508

I think the majority of the audience will be scratching their heads trying to figure out who Starkiller is, (yes I know it's in the crawl but only nerds like us follow these things closely) a few people will think the guy from the video game has come back from the dead and it doesn't add anything to the story.

The easiest and obvious remedy for this 2004 problem is to return the hologram conversation to it's 1980 text but with Ian's voice (like what Ady has already done).

Well yeah i would rather see this than a mention of Starkiller etc, just that it was a brain wave that i had, a moment of madness haha, but seriously was just quick idea that came to mind.

Hey, don't apologise. Sharing ideas is a good thing. Just not all ideas a good ;-) But it's always worth mentioning to see what people think.

HELL NO!!!

He doesn't sound old enough to be the emperor, at least, not the one i'm used to.

ady, btw, has blended the two voices together and that works for me.

I don't think he's blended the voices... Has he?  Pretty sure its just a straight edit.

No, i haven't blended the two Emperor voices. i used Ian's voice from the 2004 DVDs but timed to match the original emperor.

Cool ady, I had no idea you had re-timed Ian's dialogue from the 2004 DVDs.  Between that and creating the second "Yes", your audio editing skills have impressed me as much as your video editing.

Yeah, I did notice that his cadence was a little different from the original 2004 DVD [PARADOX!!!]. He spoke a wee bit faster than the DVD Emperor did.

Also, a belated "AWESOME WORK!!!" on managing to restore the first "yes" in the Emperor's scene. I always liked that, and was let down that it was omitted in 2004.

Hate to veer into off-topic discussion, but it is related to fredstar's Family Guy post:

Excellent :) Everything is proceeding as I have foreseen. (Laughs evilly).

I'm getting that, the first one was awesome. I wish The Simpsons team thought of something like this before.

Just a quickie mock-up. I want to show the Ion Cannon as actually being part of the base. The original shot of it just doesn't place it anywhere. So far I've added the power generator in the background. In the mid ground I might add the Rebel trenches, to at least place the cannon in the geography.

"The other versions will disappear. Even the 35 million tapes of Star Wars out there won’t last more than 30 or 40 years. A hundred years from now, the only version of the movie that anyone will remember will be the DVD version [of the Special Edition], and you’ll be able to project it on a 20’ by 40’ screen with perfect quality. I think it’s the director’s prerogative, not the studio’s to go back and reinvent a movie." - George Lucas

For some reason i feel like im always against all the changes... But I liked the ion cannon in the middle of nowhere, it feels like it is hidden, like the rest of the rebel base. If you make the rebel base visible from that far isnt as hidden as it should be.

But i like that the sky fits more with the light/shadow than the original background.

I also like the cannon surrounded by nothingness.  If it were close to the rebel base, the Imps would have been focusing on destroying the cannon as well as the generator.

Well just a quick update:

Started building the new hangar miniature to replace the matte in the scene with Ralph McQuarrie's cameo. And i've also begun building the new Wampa puppet. Not looking forward to attaching each individual hair on the face though.

Also just a quick reminder that its now less than a week until the draw for the workprint so if you still want to get into the draw then you have 6 days left. So far there is 6 people in the draw so  your chances of winning are good. I've decided to give a runner-up prize of an exclusive clip which will be the cloud city approach and meeting of Lando

Ok that sounds very good news.

Are you going to replace the other hangar mattes as well? I mean that will you construct a big hangar model that includes the "mcQuarrie scene" and the other shots, or individually?

Im hoping the shot when MF gets off to push several things behind from the boost :O

take care ady

Well, u started the idea. I'll give you a hand if you wish as it would be a labour of love.

I got the opposite problem though, I have loads of trouble taking each individual hair off my face every few days.

I wonder if Ady would actually farm out any work, maybe there are ways some of us can help him with the laborious stuff so he can get on with the money shots :-)
