Rather than post quotes from it, I will summarize that Steven Spielberg is now attached to the infamous project, that most people have excepted will never happen, as producer. There is a script that Spielberg really likes which adapts the novel "HALO: The Fall of Reach". Which IMHO bodes well for this getting made, whether that is a good thing or not is yet to be seen.
I like HALO. I am not a super fan. In fact, I just beat the first game for the first time last year. It is a good shooter, but the story line, which is often taken by people as being pretty lame and generic, is actually kind of cool and refreshing to me. It really reminds me a lot of old science fiction stories I'd read as a kid. It is the future, an Empire of aliens resembling very much the Persians threaten man kind, etc. It is simple, any fifth grader could have thought it up with just as much depth. But for some reason it just takes me back to the days of reading comic books past bed time with a flash light.
That said, I have very little faith in Hollywood to do anything but hurt the franchise. Though if done right, the story from the novel "The Fall of Reach" could make a pretty cool sci-fi flick.
Anybody else have any thoughts on this?
