Review:
Just got a few beers and my copy of this in the player. Its made me a happy man. The visual quality is medicore as to be expected with how rare the content is. But its just reminded me why i class Aliens as one of my all time faves. I missed out on the hype as i was only breaking into my teens, and this looked like a scary horror film so i sort of bypassed the hype. But if i saw any of those early trailers today, i would chuck out a chestbuster i think.
I have never seen a so much in depth view of Camerons early work till now. I thought his wife is a moose (comment below the belt, but thats what i thought). And to think Signore Weaver could of bypassed Aliens so early in her carrear.
Yep, then it comes to the featurettes.
Been to London twice in this lifetime. How did i miss out on Alien War as opposed to viewing the national artwork gallery!
I love the fact not to much was given away.
Is Alien War still going in the westend? Are there any more now(gonna check the web after i've done this), as i had no idea of the concept of the attraction (thought it was some cheap cash in of the film name). Now im going to have to plan a journey with this one purpose, hopefully.
Slightly less excited about Ride at the Speed of Fright as i imagine its one of 'Super Ex Pro Com' simulator rides, like i went on in Disneyland Paris (and Blackpool seafront on a sking thing and a virtual rollercoaster), which are over-enigneered, overpriced, and un-convincing. But the footage is absolutly awesome (to go with DVD's of Star Tours, Terminator, and now this). Better than Star Tours, not as good as the T2 thing.
DVD authoring is always important when trying to make this sort of thing a class above bootlegs, and damn Jonno, i hope you do a lot more stuff on here (i had no idea about the original nistromo design until i popped in disk). I think if it could have been shot it would have looked better than the military style ship we know of (i heard something about that ship being a mod of the pulse rife, but i dont know if thats true).
I got two (edit: three) things new out of viewing this in my life time. I missed out on those awesome trailers. James Cameron is even more of a (risk taking) genius than i ever thought he is. And i need to lobby some friends (or sod it i'll go it alone), for a trip to London very soon.
I just wish i could have added anythin to be in the credits page ;-)
Sean, send a PM with contact details. But send me a PM to say you got it (as that really narcs me when posters request something, then cant be arsed to say THAN-Q to the sender, or the maker. No more DVDs for those who do that there after).
